I have driven 5 Prado’s and 2 Pathfinders as company vehicles over the last 20 years. Prado by a country mile. No comparison.
Both vehicles are soft roaders IMO so you should also look at subaru forester or Nissan xtrail, both better than the previous 2
cheers

Prado.....capable enough and reliable.
Not that I’ve driven a Parhfinder....
Dave I've worked on both, early and later models of each, and the Toyota product wins out IMO for less faults during ownership. The pathy is not a BAD vehicle, just not as reliable as the Toyota. The preference also is for a V6 petrol Prado, yes they are a little thirsty but maintenance costs are very low. They are a magnificent engine
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
I'll let her know
Thankyou

We have 2 R50 Pathys (both 3.3 V6 petrol autos - only option in the R50)
1 with 290,000 ks ('98)
1 with 60,000 ks (yes 60) ('04), purchased recently after good running cost experience since '98 with the first one
I smile to myself when I read about the troubles with sophisticated 4X4s of the time
utterly reliable in our experience, comfy, good but smaller size, reasonable 4X4 ability, 3.5 tonne towing ability
economical & cheap
she needs a 7 seater, to do camper trailer hauling etc
has 4 kids from 11-2 yrs
i talked her out of a d3 as it had issues
she previously had a pajero but it eventually died and her partner talked her into a madza which she dislikes and it wont do the camper trailer thing...
12k is her upper limit i believe
and it has to have a split 3rtd row seat![]()

Territory ?
We chose one some years back (now on our third) because of seating options and child restraint points in the 3rd row. Only problem is the lack of luggage capacity with the 3rd row in use.
Maintenance cheap but.... suspension bushes & diff bushes need regular replacement. Not sure about the SZ AWD which is 'on-demand', have heard problems compared to the earlier 60/40 split system.
TDV6 is great (now on our second) but plan for cambelt & HP fuel pump belt changes. Cheaper now that independent's have experience of doing the job. Petrol was thirsty, on the school run, SWMBO was getting 18litres/100 !
Towing 2.3tonne with the 2WD and higher on AWD diesel.
2WD diesel tows a tandem trailer with a Series Land Rover on it without issue at the legal limit, fuel consumption isn't bad even with a trailer potentially above it's 2.3 Tonne towing capacity.....
