Like 'Alien', which gets studied in psychology at some Uni's. All the terror based on real human fears, hardwired or learnt.

The most bizarre one I've heard in the last couple of weeks (doesn't involve humans, but I could call it the Murdoch fungus if it was applied to the readers) is the case of the zombie cicadas infected with a fungus, who leave their burrows in the ground, fungus causes their tails to drop off and they fly around spreading spores out of their open ended thoraxes till they 'crash'.

Apparently the fungus contains traces of psilocybin and other stuff.

Was on RN a week ago.

SWMBO was bitten by one a couple of years ago (we identified and dispatched said spider) and while it didnt ulcerate it did blow up with a fluid filled blister the size of a 10 cent piece and took about 4 weeks to heal over properly. It didnt get infected but certainly could have, and if so would have been a nasty mess. I would compare the wound to a second degree burn with all the potential complications that could arise from that.

Yep.
I had to have a course of AB's a few years ago from one.
It did get infected and ulcerate a little, but healed well eventually.

I’ve been bitten by several White Tips and hair resulted in a 5c sized red spot at the bite site.

Worst spider bite was a decent size Red Back that got me on the back of the hand - that felt hot, raised a bump and made me feel a bit off colour for a couple of days.

The “White tip” myth is just that - it’s the person who has impact on outcome - if you are susceptible to the venom.

Yep, I’ve been bitten by about every spider around here apart from a Redback. Have been bitten on the hand and toe by a white tip (they like slippers - I’ve tipped 2 more out since then as I check them every time now 😁 ) - I got a small red mark both times that itched for half a day or so - no worse than a large black house spider or large garden spider, and not nearly as bad as a Huntsman or Wolf Spider - Huntsman was my fault - picked him up to move him and it bit me on the palm of my hand. The Wold Spider was the worst as it was just being an arsehole and came out of an old bit of decking just to have a chomp on the back of my hand, just on my wrist - very painful bite and it cost him his life but that needed medical attention and swelled up and was painful for a few days. Swelling and redness lasted over a week - little *****...

Wolf spiders don't get the same courtesy in our house that huntsman do.....

No, not here either, but thankfully haven’t seen one at this place - was when I lived up the bush there were a few of them about - angry little critters...

I've found these egg sacs hanging from under a leaf of an Umbrella tree. From all the information I got so far they belong to a Magnificent Spider Ordgarius magnificus.
However if that was the case the sacs should only be about half that size. Have I misidentified this spider?
