We have a part coming by StarTrack, from Melburne, which i believe is owned by Australia Post.
Anyway, note in letter box saying we were not at the office, and it can be collected at Darra Post Office. We are at Loganholme, for those that know the area,so no we are not going to Darra,we paid to have it delivered to Loganholme.
Ring Startrack,go through all the automated crap, and eventually get hold of someone who says to get the parcel re directed, you must ring Aus Post.
Ring Aus Post,on hold for nearly 25 minutes, transfered here and there, eventually get hold of someone and they say they cant do anything, you need to call Startrack.FFS.
Call Startrack back and eventually get hold of someone that knows what they are doing, give them authority to put in our courier box,no signature required, and get a promise it will be delivered the next day.
Three days later we haven't seen the parcel.

That is what happened when my rose plants went missing & when I made a complaint, they pushed the ETA out another two & half weeks. Once I got on to the seller, I had the roses the next day. I was told by my postman that if the sender is a business & they lodges the complaint AP don't want to lose their business.
Just before Christmas I posted a friend, in France a couple of Australian calendars, value just under $40, postage just under $50.
It took a week to leave the country, then could not be tracked. On 02/01/24 I got notification that the package had been delivered. Finding it strange that the recipient had not unacknowledged receipt, I emailed him. He has not received it.
Spent late afternoon and all evening opening an AP account, so I can report the package missing.
What an absolute waste of time and bandwidth the AP site is. It runs around in circles, repeatedly asking for the same information and cannot recognise an international address.
Getting onto 'chat' is no more fruitful, if that's AI, it's got no future. After reasking for the same information, multiple times, regardless of the question, the answer is always the same, "Item delivered. Check the item has not been left somewhere safe."

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I've found the best way to get results from AP is to make a post on their Facebook page with the tracking number and what has happened. They don't like bad publicity on their social media!
I've had a couple of doozy's over the years, a parcel completing it's 8th trip between Sydney and Melbourne was delivered within 24hrs of complaint by a desk jockey in a AP car.
A package from the US was supposedly delivered and they kept saying it had been despite my and the senders complaints, turned out there were TWO packages with the SAME tracking number by AP but different addresses. Ended up I tracked down the other person in a different state and we posted each others parcel to the correct address, one with a new tracking number!
Same. AP basically make it impossible to report missing mail even if tracked, and then when you eventually get through they refuse - in my case because I was the recipient, in your case as the sender.
For me, the Uni just resent the book and the in another case the supplier in the US just sent another propshaft. They both seemed to just know how it is.
Then there is Ebays international parcels, I ordered a whole Brembo brake set up out of the UK - 4x calipers, 4xrotors. The package came over weight, the seller had my money, Ebay binned the entire package and I got a refund. The seller wasn't allowed to retrieve and repackage the items. Mind numbing stuff.

SubscriberWhen I used to live in Japan, it took 3 days for mail to get from Tokyo to my parents' place in regional Victoria: they used to wryly note that mail from Armidale took over a week ...
Basically, that timing meant that the Japanese post office was getting international mail out of the country the day that it was posted.

Thats my experience out of the UK also. After ordering a head from Turners, DHL had it out of the country that night, Singapore the next day and then into Australia. If I recall correctly, it was in Australia within 1.5 days or 2 days tops and then the next 5 days was was the last 250km from Sydney.
International packages seems to be 5 working days.
From what I can see on tracking, AusPost just seem to hang on to parcels and have them sit for about 3 days in Sydney doing nothing. No doubt it probably gives a reasonfor customers to pay more for express post.

I must admit, when I had mail from Roverlord it made it from greater Melbourne to regional Queensland within twenty-four hours. It was Express Post though.
AP seen to grind to a halt when they involve StarTrack, wholly owned by AP.
