Yes Ian, I use to get on the computer every morning and track all our customers orders, I also use to email customers if on Aust post web site says going to be delivery today. And let them know it is going to be deliver to them today.
This way I could pick up any problems and get on to it. We had one go to SA and when it was suppose to go to Surrey Hills Vic which is a 40 mins from us. We rang the customer and told him and he need the prop shaft as he was going away on the weekend. So Mario got in his car and drove down there with a new propshaft. Got on to Aust post and said that it is in the wrong state and that Mario had delivered another one to the customer. So I asked if they could send it back to us our address was on the parcel. And they said that we had to pay 28.10 for the redirection, so I paid over the phone even it was there fault. And he come the catch of Aust post, the shaft turn up at the customers house the next day from SA. The customer took it to the post office and asked it to be sent to us as we had paid the money, they still charge our customer $15 to send it to us. Got on to Aust post and told them what was what and they refunded the 28.10 back to us. The customer was ok as Mario made the effort to get him the shaft to him by driving down to him. There is so many story I could tell you over the 13 years of the business about them that could be made in to a book. I have heard every story under the sun that Aust post comes up with, which I know for a fact is rubbish. Heather

International packages seems to be 5 working days.

From what I can see on tracking, AusPost just seem to hang on to parcels and have them sit for about 3 days in Sydney doing nothing. No doubt it probably gives a reasonfor customers to pay more for express post.
Back around 2010 I ordered a head from Turners. Ordered Monday night by phone and it was in Melbourne by Friday.

I had it on Monday at my rural post office. 7 days from UK country Victoria. Pretty amazing I reckon.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Its incredible isn't it. I'm country NSW also. Same story with kit out of the USA, its hardly slower than buying from within Australia.

I was at the post office yesterday picking up a parcel. The parcel cost $50 postage from Newcastle as Express post - an sat in Bathurst for over a day doing nothing.

The lady beside me wanted to post a letter to Port Macquarie and got this response when asked how long it would take:

"It will take up to 14 days to get there, AP are busy with parcels."
Lady said that she had better send it Express Post in that case
"That will get there in 2-3 days in that case, overnight is only to Sydney."

This just reinforces my belief that they hold mail to make people pay for express postage.

The previous lady next to me wanted to post to Blayney. The lady serving laughed and said it would be cheaper to just drive there.

AP really needs a good hard shake up. Not so much the people in the PO's, but the operations and logistics which are behind it. Not saying there is a problem with the people, but there certainly is with the system.

Last Tuesday, 2nd, I ordered something small from the 40 thieves mob in the land to our north. Was told 18 days. Got a message on Monday that it had failed to clear customs. Same thing on Tues and yesterday, failed to clear customs. Went to check the PO box yesterday and there it was, still clearing customs......
Yet I sent a letter (!) from here in Melb to Boonah in Qld and it took eleven days.

Funny how they could take an organisation and strip it of it's one quality that made it worth buying: efficiency. StarTrack used to be good.

StarTrack was started as a joint venture between Qantas and AP. Ultimately it became 100% AP.

I would not dispute the efficiency claim of AP. I once aquired a 36 pallet load for AP, ex-Adelaide to Sydney. In preparation for loading I'd opened the A-trailer curtains and was starting to open the B-trailer. The forklift driver said that wouldn't be necessary. The 36 pallets were collapsed cages, stacked into four pallet spaces. I was paid for a full B-double.

They certainly do,We had a parcel recently sent from Adelaide,it went all around the countryside, and ended up at our address,10 days later.

Another was sent from Brisbane,to us in Brisbane, just before Christmas,so they were probably busy, still no excuse.
After 8 working days, the sender was contacted by AP,and told the parcel was at our local Post Office, ready for pick up.
AP had not even tried to deliver it,as the Lady in the PO mumbled, when i collected it.

I put in a complaint to AP about this one, email came from AP,saying it was at PO for pick up.

So i sent an email back, explaining that we had picked it up two days ago,but it had not been delivered to our address,no one had even tried to deliver it,which is what the sender had paid for.

No response from AP,no surprise i suppose.Should chase it up as i do have a complaint number.

I ordered a Fitbit for SWMBO just before Christmas, arrived in 4 days, from China......

Did quite a bit of work out of their Tulla depot back in the day. Used to work better than a lot of other places I went to. MainFreight comes to mind. And their local ODs seemed happy. Management seemed to go down hill after AP took over the whole thing.

Australia post say they aren't making money on letters as every one uses emails now. But they seem to put up the prices of postage, every time I would go to the post office to buy express satchels they also was seem to have gone up by at least $2.00 for single bag. We bought them by pack of 10 which gave us a very small deduction. Which then I had to go in and change the postage of our adds. We put in our add they if they buy more that 1 item, to put it in the cart and we would combine postage. I would see what I could get in the satchel. Some or should I say most didn't do that and ended up with a huge postage. Then when I work postage out, I would take it of what they paid and refund the difference back in to there paypal account. I don't know what other parts seller did? Did they just take all the postage and not combine. Customers would email us back saying thanks for the refund on the postage, we never made money on postage we only charge what is cost us to post with Aust post. Heather
