Strewth, I'd get tired thinking of driving that route. I dip me lid to him, circumnavigating this country without getting a speeding ticket.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I bet he never had a shoe sponsor either..
Surprised he did it in the time he did , unless i read it wrong , about 2.5 yrs .
Champion effort whichever way you spin it.

Yep, and doing the relatively short Tenterfield to just south of Tamworth section again next weekend.
There was a well known modern swaggy that we saw several times in the last fifteen years traveling the New England who we are in awe of, but circumnavigating the country is another several steps.
Quite amazing.
I often wonder how people got on around Doomadgee in the days of yore.
No A/C, no proper roads, no power!
Must have been a tough life with tough people.
I laugh now when the tourists tell me how remote & hard done by we are, mainly sealed roads, internet (not a lot of bandwidth), phones, A/C in every room, Foxtel, the only thing we don't have is a Pub.
Might as well live in Brisbane.

It's all in the eye of the beholder & is relative Paul, but as I mentioned to Rick at the beginning of this thread, I think it is good that we can go back & realise just what early settlers had to contend with. The Author is to be commended for taking so many B&W Photos. Not all are of "special" interest but they do show the country as it was & that is why I find them fascinating. 1923 wasn't all that long ago nor was it from the other end either, so the country was still quite "young" but things were happening. I wonder if he was enthralled by the song of the sixties/seventies "These boots were made for walking". Although he was a tad before it's time.
