Not if you are from the majority of NSW - still cannot drive from the ACT to QLD.

Strange that, I thought we were all Australians but not according to replies that I have received to work applications in QLD and WA

The border zone has been changed, and the way things are going, all of NSW might be opened up by the end of October. If these jobs can assist some AULROANS looking for work, then it's a good thing. First in best dressed.

What will change at 1am Thursday 1 October 2020

Because of the reduced risk of COVID-19 transmission in northern New South Wales, the following changes have been made regarding the border zone:

    • The New South Wales border zone (PDF) will be extended
    • The Queensland border zone will no longer exist
    • Queensland residents will be able to travel anywhere in the New South Wales border zone for any purpose
    • New South Wales border zone residents will be able to travel anywhere in Queensland for any purpose.

The direction has also been updated to provide a right of entry to people coming to Queensland to respond to an emergency energy, drinking water, sewerage, liquid fuel, resources or telecommunications event.

Just a heads up on an incentive for harvest workers .

Incentives for harvest workers in agriculture

The ‘Back to work in agriculture incentive scheme’ is encouraging Queenslanders to work in the agriculture sector to meet short-term labour shortage demands in the Wide Bay and Darling Downs regions.

Employees could be eligible for payments of up to $1500 to assist with accommodation and transport costs associated with travelling and staying in regional locations.

Visit daf.qld.gov.au/agbacktowork for more information, including the eligibility criteria and how to apply through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA).

This is one of several initiatives underway to tackle labour shortages and drive economic recovery for the agriculture sector.
