Back in the early 90’s I was working for an Australian company long absorbed by a global player. These guys designed and manufactured carrier telco equipment which was sold to the local telcos but the big markets were predominantly Middle East and North Africa. We had won a big contract with ARENTO (Arab Republic of Egypt National Telecommunications Organization).
In addition to the X50 Sub-rate equipment made by us we were providing SDM & TDM (high speed add drop multiplexing gear) which was designed and built in Israel. To get past the country of origin ‘issues’ all the equipment had to be shipped to Australia repackaged and relabeled country of origin Australia. Even the manuals were reprinted in a different font with reference to Australia throughout. The Egyptians of course knew all this but they could point in all honesty to the label on the box saying country of origin Australia. As far as I understood at the time this was quite legal, or perhaps so I was told!
Point being I have little faith in “made in” type statements on items.

Just hope the Quality/Durability is better than those cheap, made - "there" placky pegs wot don't last in the sun.
