Modern day gold rush in W.A.

Western Australia is experiencing what is being hailed as a "21st century gold rush", just six months after the coronavirus pandemic sparked fears that mineral exploration would grind to a halt.
    Key points:

    • Gold exploration in Western Australia is booming again, 127 years after gold was discovered at Kalgoorlie-Boulder
    • Laboratories which test drilling samples are under pressure to keep up, resulting in delays of up to six weeks for results
    • Hundreds of mining executives will attend the Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on Monday

The State's hard border has clearly not deterred mining investment and if anything appears to have provided a catalyst, with millions of dollars flowing into companies exploring for gold.

Iím pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I read today that the Palace Hotel had decided last year they wouldn't have a tits bar (that's what we used to call them but I believe the polite name is skimpies) but quickly changed their minds when no one came to the pub to get blotto.

The gold rush is nuts. Even here in Vic at places like Pyramid hill, Bendigo and Ballarat are back in the gig

My little WA explorer turned new reasonably large new discovery has paid for some of my renovations. Oddly Suspect it will all come crashing down as gold price is cyclical as is most thing. Nice time to be shining. This years Diggers and Dealers in Kal was a far more civilized affiar than prior years. Like everything there are exceptions to that.

I cannot read the WA news sadly Head line looks interesting.

Lb for lb, tobacco is dearer than gold. A naked fact.

More expensive than gold yet people still buy and burn it. Thank goodness I gave up when B & H were only 55c a packet of 20. I would go through at least 3 packs a day so if had continued to smoke I'd probably be as dead as my Dad because of them, or not able to afford a cool beer on a hot day.

Is that first packet price for cheap (?) fags or expensive stuff? Whatever (as they say these days) it's madness to give the govs. so much money to waste although most of it goes to keep smokers alive I believe. How I managed to give up I don't know but I stuck to it and thank goodness I did. I've only got to get a whiff of a smokers breath these days to feel quite revolted..... including my daughters.
Tobacco is gold for fag producers only.
