    Hello All,

I did not even know that the package was sent via DHL until I got their email. Never received any tracking advice until I clicked on part of the message that arrived last night. The link in the message included an itemised trace of its journey - currently in Brisbane. Dispatched on the 2nd of November from Leeds in the United Kingdom and arrived in Brisbane on the 4th - waiting for the regional leg to Bundaberg. I got the "pay-now" message from DHL last night.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Hello Rick,

Yes, I got slugged $100 less for my Bosch VE injector pump. It does weight 6.5 Kilograms though. I figured it was going to cost a bit to get it here.

    Kind regards

While on topic-ish I needed a Briggs & Stratton Ignition coil & harness for my Ride -on today.

Checked availability & price via Ebay. Ex USA the part was about $14 & postage/freight was $91

Checked Ebay further & found it is already in Oz. Part $25 & Freight free.

I am with Tombie - Ashcroft should have charged GST in the UK and it should be listed on the UK invoice which will also indicates no VAT. If GST was paid it on purchase and DHL is charging it again, DHL is up to their usual tricks.

    Customs Import Scam or Not?

Overseas suppliers only have to register to collect GST if they have sales which exceed $75,000 p.a to Australia.

It is possible a supplier like Ashcrofts could do this much sales into Australia and not be aware they have to register to collect GST and submit to the ATO.

However, for sales over $1000 the GST is collected in Australia at the border, and not by the supplier.

FWIW Ashcroft's didn't charge GST so DHL are in the clear for that.

Actually no foreign company has to register for GST as they’re not subject to Australian laws.
