    Kimberley

    G'day All,

My partner and I are heading off to the Kimberley to get married.
We would be interested in members comments of areas they would consider to be a highlight of thier trip, Also interested in areas you would not visit again. Thoughts and comments gratefully appreciated.

You can't lose. It is all great. My favourite campsite ever was at Barnett Gorge on Gibb River Rd. I hear that people in the know up there have spots that "tourists" don't know about along the GRR. Went to Mitchell Plateau which was awesome but at the time the road was very rough to the end limits of my endurance (though the Defender didn't seem to mind).

Even famous places like El Questro are still worth going to. It's a great place for a honeymoon.

I did not take to Broome straightaway but it has grown on me now and I am on the long list of fans.

    Noddy,

Yep. Cape Leveque absolutely. Middle Lagoon, perhaps.

Then anywhere along GRR. Emma Gorge / El Questro was lovely, camping spots excellent. Mitchell Plateau access was a terrific road - Bungles was a better one! Manning Gorge - Mt Burnett - the best swim in the area! Just MHO.

    Lucky @@#$ers, aren't they!!!

i just did a sea safaris across the kimberley's, i reccommend doing one, not cheap though, we did a helicopter ride over the mitchell waterfalls, great stuff

i had three days in broom and went to Cape Leveque in a hired lo-lux, make sure you have enough fuel for the return trip as we found out how tough it is to get fuel at the communities on a sunday, long story

will do the gibb river one day

If you're staying near Kununurra for any time, go to Pack Saddle Springs.

Head west from Kununurra and turn left into the pack saddle road (after crossing the diversion dam). About 7km (from memory) there is a turn off to the right. Follow the track to the end where it terminates at a small seasonally almost creek. Hike up stream for about an hour and you'll come to a permanent flow, fresh flowing water about 5m wide, 3m deep, 20m long and good camping all around.

    Don't go swimming in Wyndham.
