Thread: My nightmare with the NDIS process.

Well after the new plan meeting I was told the new plan would take over from the old one, but some high cost equipment is being funded from the old plan, the electric bed base was one of them.
I was told there was plenty in the kitty and I need to order and pay for the bed before the 3rd Dec, due to the administration delay time I was asked if I could pay for it out of my own pocket, $3900 and email my reimbursement claim to my funding management company. I normally get refunded within a day or 2, a week later I check and nothing , so I call them and get told there isn't enough in the account and they are $740 short and are waiting instruction from the NDIS.

Then I get a call from the bed supplier wanting to deliver the bed, which I cant get done until the other company removes the 300 odd kg trial hire bed. They need 3 blokes to get it down my steep stairs. I don't have room for 2 heavy beds, they need to scheduled for same day removal and delivery. That's not my problem.

Next week I have to get some MRIs done and have booked a wheel chair transport taxi, I'm going sit in my powered chair inside the back of a disability taxi for the first time. I rang the cab company as I was concerned about punctuality. It's only a 20-30 min drive, but i booked it to pick me up an hour prior to allow loading and unloading time and in case he's late. It's all a learning curve until I can get the hang of it.

I was happy that hooray they are going to organise an urgent portable shower hire, but the joy was short lived, today I get an email saying all portable unit are out on hire and none are available until January. ( I really needed it yesterday, but wont go into that). I know things are going to be a wait again, I have been waiting 12 months on the NDIS already.

Going to me a tiring week for me next week.
Monday, Neuro physio.
Tuesday. Yooralla ComTec coming to assess me for communication aids.
Wedneday MRIs,
Thursday Neurologist,
Friday, Podiatory and Neuro physio.
There's not enough days in a week.
Heather's been going through lot with me I really appreciate the the lady I married 33 years ago has stuck by me, she could have walked away years ago. I feel so bad I am doing this to her.
She tells me I would do the same for her if the rolls were reversed.
I often feel really guilty, thinking In the back of my mind that I couldn't do what she's doing, She didn't sign up for this ****, things like cleaning me when I have had an accident, my depressive moods. She's always there for me and she keeps on going even though she's tired. Looking after me plus running our business.
When we got married I made a promise to her mother to look after Heather I now am unable to fulfil that promise. I never thought this would happen.
I love her to bits and words describe how much she means to me.

Heather would rather have you the way you are than not have you, Mario. Think if the situation was reversed. You're still looking after here, in a different way.

thanks Ian, I've been stuck in memory lane lately, lots of flashbacks coming out. Some of the good memories and some of the bad memories.
Kind of like my whole life is flashing. Never had this before . Maybe it happens when you age or its the meds.
I felt pretty good this arvo when my physio came and she brought me set of crutches, the ones with molded hand grips and they have the brace for the fore arms.
She wanted to see if it was better than the walker I use to ambulate small distances in the house and to get to my wheel chair.
I was a bit more steady on my feet with them, and today the dizzyness wasn't too bad. I managed to walk out side and get some sun on me and sit out side.
Heather ordered a set and is picking up a set at the mobility shop tomorrow, this will help short term.

A HANDY HINT
When you get the crutches they are handed so mark one of them with some tape so you can easily identify which one is for the right hand.. I had these when I had my double knee replacement was forever trying to use them on the wrong sides until I marked them & it was easy to see witch one was for the right side.

They gave me $2676 for taxis and like per year. That's pretty generous . I got on line to get an estimate to go to visit my elderly mum using in a wheel chair taxi , normally 40 mins drive, cost would be $110 each way, So trips will be few and far between..

This week I was told I would not be getting the taxi vouchers as they had run out of funds.

Just looking at ways to get away for a day trip.

I don't know if l would trust a 180 kg $23K chair sitting on this and only balanced by the tow hitch receiver . I'd imagine twisting forces. But I'm not an engineer.
i wonder who owns the Vic registered Disco 3 it's attached too?
