This is great its all happening, gosh though the left hand doesn't talk to the right hand with NDIS! I get the transport allowance too, it really doesn't go far with the price of taxi trips, thevouchers were much better in that way!
Your new crutches sound fab! I'm waiting to submit my appeal for thr hand controls, waiting on one last bit of evidence but might have to just submit what I've got as running out of the time window.

Just looking at ways to get away for a day trip.

I don't know if l would trust a 180 kg $23K chair sitting on this and only balanced by the tow hitch receiver . I'd imagine twisting forces. But I'm not an engineer.
i wonder who owns the Vic registered Disco 3 it's attached too?

G'day Mario - think laterally and ask the licensing bods to ask the owner to get in touch with you as a fellow "need'er"

I just had a 2 hour home consultation with my speech pathologist and 2 friendly representatives from Yorralla to access me, demonstrate and advise me on some communication options. Interestingly one of the devices that is an electronic voice had preinstalled " DAD JOKES"
So I have been given some options.
just got wait for the reports.
2 hours and I'm really fatigued now.

Wishing you good luck with the process Epic Dragon I hope they pass it for you smoothly. Otherwise you'll have to put in an appeal. At least with appeals they have to act on it within 2 weeks.
The crutches are one of the cheapest disability Aids so far. $55. Got the figures today for a Ceiling attached lift hoist $12K.
Finding out that anything with Disability in front of it Add 0's to the price.

Keep a good eye on those crutches.

Mine cracked at the hand hold bracket at the back of the main part of the crutch. Both sides have cracks. I am 20kg below the max weight for them. Suspect my house with lots of stairs may have contributed to the Metal fatigue. Had they failed while coming down stairs I am sure I would be in a world of pain! The hair line cracks on mine were reported to the chemist and the TGA. I have heard nothing from either oddly I think. Noted Metal fatigue bit me twice with breaks in the metal work in my leg as well. Fixed that issue happily.

Today's taxi rides went well arrived at requested time, very helpful drivers, informed me of the Gov taxi discount card where I can save 50% up to $60 a fair. Couldn't see a thing on the ride as sitting too high in the roof line so I didn't now where I was, just saw cars next to us when looking down into side windows, but I did have a good view of the fair meter on the dash. It ticked over 10 cents every heart beat.

After leaving MRI place I get a call from the bedroom ceiling hoist people telling us they had a cancelation for tomorrow and could they install mine instead of Jan/Feb next year . So no sleeping in tomorrow.

So another tick off the list

You're on a roll Mario, go for gold.
Let us know when you're ready for a day out. Fishing, off roading, I'm confident there will be more than enough volunteers to make it happen. It'll give Heather a chance for a breather, either with you or at home.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

OhI forgot to mention, when I booked the MRi, I told the receptionist that i had a powered chair, to which she rplied that I must enter from a side street to the disabled entry , press a door bell on the gates and they will come outside to open them.
So I entered though the "TRADEMENS ENTRANCE".
I had to go down a narrow passage , the receptionist then said best I didn't come into the reception are but proceed along another narrow passage past the changing cubicles into a little room at the end of this section where it did a 90 degree turn.
This passage was so narrow, and nearly impossible to get a swing into the room. I had a couple of goes and the doorway was so narrow , I just got in but a chip out of the door edge and left a long wheel chair mark on the door face.

After all this effort getting into the toom the receptionist comes and tells me they arn't realy set up for whhelchair users and the main reception when i booked it should have told me. She suggested I should have gone to a hospital in stead as the hallway are wider.
Then came the question on how to get me out of my chair into there wheel chair as mine wasn't allowed in to the MRI room.
The radiologist was Pregnant and I was told she wasn't able to help me. Also the MRI room was up the passage and up a long ramp. Also she could not assist me up on to the MRI bed and lif y legs for me.

I said Heather can do it, but that was rejected.
Then the radiologist came to talk to us. She gave Heather a questionaire and waiver form and if she removed any metal objects, then Heather could wheel me up and assist me up onto the table and we could get the scan done.
So we did what we asked and I got my scan Done, when finished Heather was allowed back in to get me off the table and wheel me back out to the change room.

Then there was still the challenge of getting out of the room, I had about 5 goes, once I got 1/2 the chair out there was in sufficient room to turn right, it was too narrow a too get a swing, came out more and you havent got enough room to swing as you hit the wall in front as you swing. The chair is a centre wheel drive and spins on a dime, but if the passge is not wide enough then you got the odds against you.

Its really awful how they are for mri etc! Even telling them before hand about wheelchairs, it falls on deaf ears like it shouldn't even be a thing! I had to have a mammogram few weeks back, basically broke the system because of my wheelchair! Was told I was an inconvenience too by the reception!!!! Put in a formal complaint because mountains were made out of mole Hill when there was not ever any issue created by the wheelchair.
The world just ain't ready for our superhero wheels haha.
