    Welsh National Musical Instrument

    Hello All,

This is "General Chat" remember... the Scots have the Bagpipes. The Irish have the Uilleann pipes and tin whistles such as the Low-D... Apart from being great choir singers - do the Welsh have a national musical instrument? If so what is it?

On another note ... teehee .. does anyone play the Low D whistle here? Accessed 2nd December 2020 from A Beautiful Tune on the Irish Low D Whistle - YouTube .. shame all the people were talking. This song Eanach Dhuin is soulful and resting Eanach Dhuin Low D Whistle - YouTube

    Kind regards

I know the harp is associated with Ireland, but is it also associated with Wales?

It'd have to be a harp made of coal and sheep gut, wouldn't it John?

    Hello All,

My surname is Evans, which is the second only to Jones as the most common Welsh family name. My branch came to Australia from Wales to follow the gold fields in the 1880s from Victoria into New South Wales. I also have Irish convict stock in the family tree. Hence the interest in national musical instruments.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

An instrument here in this Welsh music clip. No idea what it is. Definitely home made.
