Glad it worked out alright Andy. The floor it advice reminds me of a similar story.
I was riding a horse once through the dunes near Lak Clifton. I am very inexperienced and the horse was fresh and knew it could put one over one me. So anyway as we were following this track through the scrub she was reaing up and pigrooting and being generally a PIA. It got so bad I had to stop her and get her under control. Mistake. This gave her the opportunity to park me in a nearby bush. The horse's owner and a very good rider told me something that afterwards made perfect sense..
When they are being difficult like that, don't stop, but kick them in the guts and keep them moving forward - it is much harder for them to misbehave on the move. In other words floor it and ride out of the trouble.
