    Nearly came to grief

    Hi Guys
Spent the day doing firewood as we had a few orders to fill. Was heading out of the bush with a big load on the trailer,I did way a load a while back and it came in at 2 tonne including the trailer.
I was following my mate and it was pretty dusty, hit this bend at 60ks and it was much sharper than I had allowed for.I hit the loose gravel and things looked crook. The first thing that came to mind was FLOOR IT.I did the trailer was at right angles on the RHS then the LHS but it pulled out of it.The TC light was blazing, probably helped immensly,I just now that if I backed off the trailer would have jacknifed me for sure.It would have looked spectacular a 11X5 trailer speedway style with a pile of firewood.
Top marks to BlackBetty,if I had the Trytoo it would have been in 2WD and it would have jacknifed for sure.

Im lucky that I have done alot of trailer pulling,my second sense just said go hard which was the only way out.
If any of you pull a heavy trailer for the first time and it starts to "boss you around",the only way to get it back under control is to pull it out of the situation. If you back off the trailer weight makes matters worse by pushing.
Just wish I had one of those reverse cameras recording,2 full 90deg slides and 2 45deg slides before normality resumed.
Didnt even loose a block of wood

It's really hard to get the mind around the idea that flooring it is the best thing you can do in most situations with an all wheel drive vehicle.

like the concept of turning into the spin. Last thing you want to do when out oc control is try and steer towards what you think your going to hit. Glad it worked out well.

Its a freaky feeling, glad to hear you got out safely.

Last year when i went to pic up the two series vehicles i bought on ebay from orange we had to drive in through the guys farm and as we went in they had had heaps of rain and the road had a slight camber half way along the car trailer just pushed us down the hill, dad and i were just passengers until the trailer swung around and jack knifed stopping us dead. It wasnt all bad because dad was saying we were stuffed. I said no we arent we are in a land rover watch this. Low range 2nd centre diff lock in i floored it pointing up a hill with red clay all over it and with a ton of car trailer we pulled up and back onto the road. I then looked at dad with a smug look and off we went.
