I think Mr Musks comments are funny "Musk said in a tweet immediately following the accident that the rocket’s “fuel header tank pressure was low” during descent, which caused “touchdown velocity to be high.”

The test showed what it was intended to. It showed that the Starship worked and was controllable while carrying out manoeuvres that were a combination of aerodynamics and thrust from engines that not only were variable thrust but also steerable (you can see this in the video). It also showed that the Starship could return to the launch pad and land, with the only hitch being that the thrust needed to brake to a stop was not developed. But the reason for this is known - fuel starvation when extra thrust was required, and the reason for this was also recorded.
This was the eighth prototype built, number nine is almost complete, and this spectacular exercise is about par for SpaceX's method of progress that involves "go fast and break things while learning", which has seen them produce the first reusable boosters, the effective replacement for the shuttle, and the cheapest launches ever. Something to be said for their methods, which are beating the traditional space companies hands down.

Queensland-based aerospace company is set to receive nearly $1m of Australian Government funding to fast track development of its reusable hydrogen-powered hypersonic scramjet, capable of placing small satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).Hypersonix Launch Systems has been working closely with BOC South Pacific, a leading provider of hydrogen solutions in the region, on its technology.
“Our Spartan scramjet will power an unmanned, fully composite vehicle called ‘Delta-Velos’, pushing it to hypersonic speeds of up to Mach 12 before it releases its payload in LEO,” he said.
“What makes Delta-Velos so different from other launch vehicles is that it’s designed to be low cost, reliable and reusable with zero net carbon emissions through the use of locally produced green hydrogen for fuel.”“We’re confident we will be able to achieve a rapid turn-around potentially as short as one week for launching small satellites into LEO.”
