They're a way of life here, too. It's amazing where they can get, hey? Bloody annoying when you open a door, drawer, or cupboard, which hasn't been used for a while, and a great glob of dry nest shatters every.
I am trying to wash the 2a for the roadworthy it is booked in for tomorrow.
I have a very useful hose brush with a built in tap. I use a bucket of carwash, dip the brush into this, wash an area, then turn the water on and rinse it off.
I have just spent the last half hour disassembling the brush to remove the mudwasp's nest. I'm not sure the brush was meant to come apart! But I got it back together again.

I was just reading this morning about the problem Keyhole Wasps are causing aircraft at Brisbane International Airport 1ea29961e651a24012e448abd10a913c.jpg They are building nests in aircraft that are on the runway for two hours causing the piolets to take emergency diversions' on there next flight, caused by blocked metering equipment.
I had trouble with mud wasps blocking all the bleeder's & bolt holes on Landy during her restoration & I find when I wash her the chassis full of nests![]()
They sealed up all the gas jets on my barbie !
Not happy.
Tried to start the usually easy brushcutter last month. after 1/2 hour it dawned on me that I couldn't hear exhaust noise. Sure enough - mud wasp.

I had a mate who commissioned a sewerage collection and transfer station, this station had a large generator on a skid that provided backup power for the pumping equipment in case of power failure. They started and test ran the generator, all was good for about 10 minutes until oil began erupting from the gaskets in a quite spectacular display. Generator tilt trayed back to the supplier who discovered a mud wasp nest in the crankcase ventilation system.

Those storms on Monday
Got home on Monday from work to no power (for a day or so) which is the way of things
Tried to fire up the ever reliable Honda
Ran for a second burped and died
Pulled everything apart
Had spark
Clean fuel
Checked the air intake for wasps
Swore at it
Had a beer
And then I saw it - bloody mud wasp nest in the exhaust!

a piece of rolled up paper or rag in the exhaust of engines that are stored for long periods will generally solve the problem. I also put some in disconnected gas, air, fuel lines.
