Many members have an aversion to "text speak" as has been the subject of many threads over time.

So just relax and go with the flow and tell us what your specific problem is as "leccy' is also very vague.
    Does the alternator alternate?

The link in 4bee's opening post describes the issue very well.

Incorrect, it has by me & no-one ever raised a query.
This name was in use on UK boards long before "Text Speak" became fashionable, anyway, it wasn't about spelling or alternative names it was about advising of the problem & safety of persons in such a vehicle.

The Bulletin is self explanatory as Ian alluded to.

    End of.

    EDIT.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I am still trying to work out how an Evoque ever became an Ra Ro.

It actually brings the Ra Ro name down.Looking at a $300K RR,it definitely has nothing in it that has anything to do with an Epoke, except the badge on the front and rear. But I can see the resemblance of a late model RR to a RR Classic,or P38,or L322.Same class of vehicle.

    Its marketing i suppose.

Oh well, maybe I am old school

LECCY? Gee Des, the term is older than you, me and Paul put together, in fact, nearly as old as Rick.

Thank God I hadn't imagined it. It's obvious really, Electrical=Leccy. Strine I believe?

Rick may have even been the bloke that initiated it whilst on the Ark.

I believe it pre-dates electronics. Well Rick also does.

Eg. "there is something wrong with the leccy in this place".

I wasn't on the Ark (the original, not the RN), I was still at primary school at the time!

BUT, I was in the Merchant Marine and a ships electrician was always called a "lecky", or "leccy".

Just as the radio operator was called "sparky", because that is how he communicated. I never minded being called a "lecky", but being called a "sparky" would definitely get a rise out of me.

And then of course there were all those Scots chief engineers that called us: "el-lectrician". I cannot post what they may have called us behind our backs.
