BUT, I was in the Merchant Marine and a ships electrician was always called a "lecky", or "leccy".
Just as the radio operator was called "sparky", because that is how he communicated. I never minded being called a "lecky", but being called a "sparky" would definitely get a rise out of me.
And then of course there were all those Scots chief engineers that called us: "el-lectrician". I cannot post what they may have called us behind our backs.
Electricians in the RAN are called greenies. Nothing to do with the moss they gather sitting in the mess drinking coffee, but green is the Electrical Branch colour.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
