    I don't believe that, Spud: that's the temp in my freezer.

    The temperature got as high as 2 degrees centigrade earlier but is dropping again now.
    My daughter sent these from her journey this morning.

    I guess your lizards don't have to contend with this fellow's problems.

    I don't understand why you live there when there are perfectly good Tropics to live in?
    We start wearing jumpers & coats when it drops below 20.

    SWMBO said she wanted a holiday in the snow - I just looked at her like she was Mad.
    Also had to remind her none of us own long pants.

    Most of the time it is not too bad. The trouble here is the dampness. Our snow does not lie overly long except on high ground or when it freezes. People with joint trouble or arthritis suffer badly here. I know such a couple who went for a holiday in Malta (pre covid) and had no aches or pains whist there. Once they returned here the aches and pains kicked in again. Another couple used to regularly go to Spain for the same reason. I asked why they did not move permanently but was told it would mean moving from grand children etc.
    In our case we would not be allowed into some countries as our daughter has special needs. Canada (not the tropics) being one of them. Other countries have a state policy of terminating the pregnancy if a "difference" is detected in the foetus in the womb. Me, I always thought Australia would be a great place to visit and drive around for a year or so but I need to be practical. Our daughter has medical and dietary requirements that might be difficult to adhere to in the places in Australia. I do not know why Australians bother to leave for holidays elsewhere. The country is so vast and varied and ideal for Defender outings. Not to mention the climate. Snow is nice but when it freezes and lies for days it can be problematic.
    While not perfect here there are worse places to bring up a child with special needs.

    My wife shops once a week. When she comes home she drivers the 110 inside the shed and leaves the groceries, including milk in the back of the 110. She goes out and takes in what she needs as she needs it. She won't be able to do that when summer comes

    I'm hearin' ya, Spud. I've never had a passport and have no desire to change that.
    I have a sister who is the total opposite. Every year she visits the UK and another European country or Iceland. To her, the 20km drive to the airport is the most epic and arduous part of the journey.

    I don't have a passport either. Neither do I own a watch or a mobile phone.
    When we go on holiday as soon as I lock the back door and get in to the Defender and start it up my holiday starts.

    Hmmmmm!

    It is important to note that when you are applying for an Australian passport, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is not concerned with past convictions, unless the following applies to your situation:

    • You have an outstanding warrant for your arrest;
    • You are on parole;
    • The Commonwealth, State or Territory Court has given you orders to refrain from applying for a passport; or
    • There are any relevant bail conditions

    I don't have a passport anymore either.
    Not for any of the above reasons, that I know of?
    Because I like British History I would like to visit the Isles one day to look at old stuff.
    But apart from that I'm quite happy here.
    I have been to Bali when we were young & spent a couple of months in PNG when it was still part of Australia, at an army base.
    Considering I haven't been to SA, WA, TAS or Vic since I was a kid there is a bit to do around here should I ever decided to mix with the Mexicans.
