    Impeachment in the political system, is like the political version of an indictment in the justice system.

    The House has investigated him and found a case can be argued against him and so has voted to impeach. He has now been impeached before the 20th.

    Senate conviction on the charge is another matter. If Senate votes on partisan lines, conviction on the article of impeachment will not pass even with the change of majority after the 20th. Whether or not he is convicted, his impeachment stands.

    With regard to your assessment of this thread as being a waste, can I consider your presence here a redeeming feature? 😁

    What a waste of space this whole thread has been.

    I will put on my prediction hat and predict that the impeachment will not get 75% of votes in the senate .

    Even Biden and his advisors were against it , according to US news reports.

    Who knows but if by some miracle the republican senator's develop a conscious before the vote they may vote For impeachment especially IF the predicted shenanigans by the MAGA Mob eventuate on the 20th

    I thought it best to add some facts to the story, speculation is just that. Speculation. This story is [ wait for it] 'unprecedented' in World history. How the US deals with this threat to their democratic process may have lessons for democracies around the World. And the next few weeks may determine whether the new administration has clear air to get on with governing the USA, and by association engage in a positive manner on the World stage, or will be set upon by division, and extremist violence and criminal behaviour. Mr Pence has a good reason for not invoking the 25th, and it makes sense. The impeachment proceedings have stated 'inciting insurrection' in the riots of last week, and not mental health issues. Mr Pence stated ;

    " In a letter to Ms Pelosi, he said the mechanism should not be “a means of punishment or usurpation” and should be reserved for cases of medical or mental incapacitation. Doing otherwise would set “a terrible precedent”, he said.“I urge you and every member of Congress to avoid actions that would further divide and inflame the passions of the moment,” he wrote."

    " Inflame the passions of the moment"
    . Key words, To me Pence has grasped the essence of the issue at hand , and has sensibly chosen not to invoke the 25th. As for impeachment, best left to the Senate Majority Leader to make a statement.;

    NEW: Senate Majority Leader McConnell statement: "Given the rules, procedures, and Senate precedents that govern presidential impeachment trials, there is simply no chance that a fair or serious trial could conclude before President-elect Biden is sworn in next week."

    Other things to take into consideration include extremists embedding themselves with peaceful protestors.

    " Federal officials said they were closely monitoring extremist chatter online and urged the chiefs to be mindful of potential lone-wolf actors and local armed groups, the chief said.“They’re very, very worried about these, what they referred to as domestic violent extremists, embedding themselves in other protests,” the chief said. “Christopher Wray seemed particularly concerned about what was sort of the disregard these folks have for democratic government. The focus was not to go after people engaged in peaceful protest. There were others embedded in that who were engaged in violence and criminal behavior.”

    We can follow this story closely to see the attack, and conversely, the defence of the first major overt attack on the US democracy , or we can shut our eyes and hope it goes away, like a child's nightmare. It's my opinion there are lessons to be learned for our democracy in this whole unfolding nightmare. It is not going away quietly into the night, and ignore it at your peril.

    A while back when early in the beginning of his Presidency when he wasn't popular, (like Day1) someone posted those lips as a Cat's arsehole & added an upturned Tail to it. I Laughed me bollocks off.

    BTW he wasn't flavour of the Month with HM the Q when Trump visited her in London.

    I. He kept her waiting for about a 1/4 hour.

    2. He virtually ignored the Guard of Honour laid on for him by striding quickly past the Ranks with out the Customary small talk to a Soldier as is usual in a G o H situation.

    3. He didn't get the Coach drive up the Mall.

    4. Marine One ****ed up the Lawn either on Landing or Departure. Maybe he was in a hurry to Skull the Jim Beam?

    ****ed off? I'd say so.

    Well, I thought I would make it up as I went along, and add some personal insults along the way, but then I realised that position was already taken. Don't want to get above my station, you know , old chap.

    Thjere's something ironic about this.

    "Trump’s old Jamaica Estates home, where he lived as an infant until he was four years old, went back on the market after it was sold to a Chinese investor and rented on Airbnb for $725 a night, according to Curbed. "
