Radio host slams proposed new term for 'pregnant women'

Radio host slams proposed new term for 'pregnant women' (yahoo.com)

Melbourne radio host Tom Elliott lambasted "politically correct idiocy" he says is filtering into Australia from the UK.
Elliot accused the UK of trying to "de-genderise the English language", labelling it "very strange stuff".
He referenced the decision of hospitals in England's south to refer to breastfeeding as chest feeding for inclusiveness.
The move was followed by a similar decision by the Australian National University.

"ANU is committed to equity and diversity and ensuring we reflect the broad nature, background and experiences of Australians and our society, as well as a being a safe and welcoming campus for all people," a university spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia last week.
Elliott was angered by comments made by Harriet Shing, Victoria's first openly gay female MP, who called for more inclusive language in Australia, including the removal of gender when referring to someone who is pregnant – a move that has been put forward in the UK parliament.

Proposal to drop the terms 'mother' and 'father'

The Australian National University’s Gender Institute guide includes similar advice, advising the use of the terms gestational or birthing parent rather than mother, and the terms non-gestational or non-birthing parent rather than father.
“This is madness in the UK and they’re pursuing this politically correct idiocy with great fervour over there [and] it is spreading here," Elliott said on 3AW.

Reminds me of some graffiti in the loos outside the Romance language section of Monash: "Is French oral as good as it sounds?"
I was studying Italian, darn it.

    Thanks for the "heads up"

I just watched that and old mate expressed his frustration with this PC bull**** in the same manner that most of us would have if asked.
IF you are one of those PC fanatics please don't watch the clip because the "colorful" language and the honest opinions of the presenter may offend you

soon they will want gender equality in plumbing, pipe and hose fittings! Want the inclusion of rainbow coloured ones as Black and white fittings are politically incorrect and offend or exclude the lgbt.

And why is there no gender neutral hose fittings? it's a disgrace.

But here is hope, the auto electrical industry has taken this a board and introduced a gender neutral.

    gender neutral.JPG
but the following will need renaming or abolishing, female and male spade connectors
    connectors.JPG

Electrical wiring diagrams will need amended or new symbols created.
    electrial.JPG

these plumbing fittings will need renaming or banning as the fittings ae based on a sexual overtone , a male inserting into a female.

I wonder when they'll start on ants, bees et cetera.
I'll also have to inform my local, first colour of the spectrum-tailed and complete opposite colour to my Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, that the She-oaks they favour on the property, will soon have to be renamed.
I'm pretty sure that they won't care.
