Tyre retailers in Perth?

Are there any preferred mud tyre retailers in Perth that people can recommend?

I'm looking at replacing the tyres on my second set of rims (Disco S1's). Having run only standard sized tyres on my County until now, I've never had a problem before, but now I've had two shops say:
"255/85R16...are you sure you got that size right buddy?"
I'm looking at either a set of the above, or maybe something a little more chunky that still doesn't require modification, such as Simex ET 32x9.5x16.

Is anyone aware of brands other than BFG MT's that are available in Aus in the 255 size?

Hi Andre,
Try Discount tyres in Farrell Rd Midvale, I've bought 2 sets of tyres from them (BFG's) and both times they were very cheap

If you go to 285/75/16, you'll have a much greater choice (Ben had these on his County without mods). Virtually the same diameter as the 255/85/16 (a fraction smaller), but obviously a little wider.

BFG MT, Durango MT, Procomp MT or XTerrains (which I had on my Disco), or IMO, the best value new MTs here in perth, the Silverstone MT117 Sport (outperformed all the above when I tried them on the Disco). Westside Tyres in Bentley can get them for you, or Opposite Lock Osb Pk (try both for a price)

I've already had the two shops I visited, both tell me that they would not put 285's on my Disco 7' rims. They said it's "not legal", and I would have to get 8" wheels. Maybe wider wheels is something I should look at to increase tyre options.

Has Ben still got the County? Is he still running 285's?

No, Ben's now got a 4-door Rangie. I think technically your sources are right - you should have an 8" rim for a 285 tyre. Athough I never had any dramas when I mentioned they were for off-road work, they probably weren't strictly road-legal on my 7" Disco rims.

I got my tyres from Tyrepower Belmont,the same guy owns Richards Tyres in Osborne Park and is a sponsor of the WA Landrover Owners,pretty sure you get members discounts.(Just tell him a member sent you,I did and got their discount)
I got Cooper ST's their prices were well below anybody else,5 tyres fit bal and wheel alighnment for less than $1200.
You can get 8" outers fitted to your Disco centres if you dont want to buy white rims.

Tyrepower Belmont for me as well.

Set of 5 255/70/16 Cooper ST's balanced and wheel alignment for under $1200 as well, without asking for discount.

Must say he charged me $40.00 for a puncture about 2 weeks later.

He saw all my AULRO stickers,I think that was enough to get looked after well and truely.
He gave me a very good price.AND to his credit,there was a centre cap missing when I got home,I rang to ask if they found it in the workshop.They didnt and he posted me a brand new replacement.Shame was I fitted it and it went missing a week later.
He is a top operater,and also a good mate of our own "TYREPOWER" he told me.
