We went up to Weipa and then to the top on the telgraphy track and came down the bypass track.Originally Posted by Slunnie
Due to the cyclone. the roads have been rebulit and it is like a free way all the way to the top. We did an average of 80 - 100 KPH all the way Not the old telegraph track) Don't know how long it will last before the corrications set in. But not what i was expecting. seemed as if we were about 6 hours behind a grader all the way

Thats unreal. I've just heard today that the the old telegraph track is very very interesting. Also, into Lakefield there is a 5T limit on the bridge in or something, so they cant fix the roads!

Hiya Ali,
That's basically the same route that we took but we had the rumble strips all the way! Did you do Gunshot Creek?![]()

Kedron caravans towed a full van up through the telegraph track last year, they have a dvd showing the trip, makes for some interesting viewing. They also had other 4wd's to help them with the hard areas. Great areas to see but not with afull 3000kg van on behind.![]()
