Cool, you'll have to tell us what route / tracks you took as we're heading up in August

We went up to Weipa and then to the top on the telgraphy track and came down the bypass track.
Due to the cyclone. the roads have been rebulit and it is like a free way all the way to the top. We did an average of 80 - 100 KPH all the way Not the old telegraph track) Don't know how long it will last before the corrications set in. But not what i was expecting. seemed as if we were about 6 hours behind a grader all the way

Thats unreal. I've just heard today that the the old telegraph track is very very interesting. Also, into Lakefield there is a 5T limit on the bridge in or something, so they cant fix the roads!
    Cheers

Yeah the Old Telegraph track is interesting. But it always is . Thats its attraction, is it not

Lakefield has restrictions on the top part but the battle road is fine

We were told , like most, that the roads were closed and can't ge though. But we just went anyway and it was fine. Well more than fine.Moral don't always listern to ever one

    Hiya Ali,

That's basically the same route that we took but we had the rumble strips all the way! Did you do Gunshot Creek?

Kedron caravans towed a full van up through the telegraph track last year, they have a dvd showing the trip, makes for some interesting viewing. They also had other 4wd's to help them with the hard areas. Great areas to see but not with afull 3000kg van on behind.
