I had a 24 hour BP monitor fitted on Tuesday and had a cardiologist consultation today and a ECG, tomorrow they want an ultra sound of my heart and a 24 heart monitor fitted.
The cardiologist was aware of what MSA disease is and said we might be able to change the medication. He also told me that a pace maker might be beneficial to me. I wasn't expecting that, I said to him that's a bit invasive, and the fact I have terminal condition it's only prelonging the inevitable. He then said it is his job to prelong life. so I will see what tomorrows testing brings. oh the joys
.
since MSA is a disease of the brain and blood pressure regulation is controlled by the autonomic nervous system I will seek for advice from a autonomic specialist before going a pacemaker.

Re the pacemaker my 90 year old mum had one inserted earlier this year after a few blackouts and falls that were determined to be caused by an irregular heartbeat. I would say that it has definitely improved her quality of life and was not very intrusive in comparison to some of the other procedures she's had. Coincidentally she's always had wild blood pressure fluctuations that can be difficult to manage.
Best wishes whichever way you decide.
