Congrats on your trip. well done! How long did you spend doing this trip? Would have been fantastic. What time of year did you do the cape trip part?

We're looking at dowing the cape sometime in the next 12 months or so.

    Cheers

    G'day Reads90

Just had a quick look on your website and noticed the Hyland ball coupling on the camper. What do you like/dislike about this coupling? I am looking at changing our camper trailer to this coupling thus any info on your opinion of the coupling would be appreciated.

    Thanks

All the way around Aus the only things to go wrong with it were.
    1 wheel bearing
Feul trank sprung a leak. Usual rust problem with the 90's tank. After all it was the original tank. But got it welded in Alice springs and it has lasted ever since
1 inner wheel bearing seal (Front)
Broken Gearbox Mount (done by corrications) Ddid not notice untill was back in Brisbane and got it checked out by work and they pointed it out
1 Punture in the trailer trye
1 Punture in the car tyre
    1 Buckled alloy
Jeeezz.... That must be a personal best for you.

Well done matey, I hope you enjoyed it. It would have been fun to do some of the sections together... Hey ho, we've always got the CT 86 re-run.

I learnt alot of things on the way around, as to do with camper trailers. One thing is that the Hyland Ball was fantasic. We had other people with the pin type moaning to us that they were a pain in the a*se to put the trailer back on the back of the car. As you had to get it leval and square which was difficult in a camp site or the bush. Where as with the ball you get it in the right area and drop it down. Easy.
We did all the k's with the trailer and took it down so really bad tracks. And all in all we gave it hell. But it kept coming back for more. We did not buy an expensive trailer ours was $9,000 all in. With the awning and sides, water tank kitchen and set as you see it.But the thing did what was asked and we are very very pleased with it. We were going to sell it when we got back but we have now decied to keep it.

Reads90 - I notice on your list of failures / breakages that you haven't mentioned brake pipes. I am sure it was you who came and got some off us in ALice Springs... Wasn't it??
