I don't think it's fair really. You sound like you're a pretty good driver and if you've got a clean licence I'd write a letter and just ask to be let off because you're a good driver and you had a slip up. It may not work but you never know. Worth an email if you haven't paid it already. A friend of mine went through a fixed camera and wrote to them stating that he actually thought the speed limit was 10 k higher than it was on that road because the limit changes a lot and it is in other parts, and he thought he was actually going less than the limit. I thought it sounded ridiculous but they let him off, mainly because he had a clean record though I think
