I don't think it's fair really. You sound like you're a pretty good driver and if you've got a clean licence I'd write a letter and just ask to be let off because you're a good driver and you had a slip up. It may not work but you never know. Worth an email if you haven't paid it already. A friend of mine went through a fixed camera and wrote to them stating that he actually thought the speed limit was 10 k higher than it was on that road because the limit changes a lot and it is in other parts, and he thought he was actually going less than the limit. I thought it sounded ridiculous but they let him off, mainly because he had a clean record though I think

Yes,that’s fair.

Here you would definitely have done points as well.

They dropped the speed on one section of the M1 during the games a couple of years ago to 90 from 100km/hr.

So late one night after doing a late call out,not a vehicle on the road,and I copped one for 100,in a the (new)90 zone.😩

That section of road has been 100km/hr for over thirty years.

And I had seen the camera there previously,I was dreaming at the time I suppose.[bigsad][smilebigeye]

Should have sent them a letter,but didn’t bother.

First speeding fine since 1987,so not bad either.

One of the local roads in the town I live was a 70 zone when I moved here. Shortly after it became a 60 zone, then 3 months later a 50 zone, then 3 months after that a 40 zone then back to 50 and a 40 during school hours at the school. Wasn't uncommon to see 2 cameras at a time set up along the 3KM stretch - one at each end - although 70 was too fast after it got built up a bit, the constant change in limits must have raked the money in. I never fell victim thankfully but pretty much all the Neighbours I speak to did at some stage.

It's the stop sign at the top of our estate that makes a fortune now - very good visibility both ways from 20 metres or so back before the line, so almost all cars roll through it if it's clear - I got hit up the arse once there and the woman screamed at me 'WHY DID YOU STOP, THERE"S NOTHING COMING!!!' She went even redder when I just pointed at the stop sign, then redder again when she turned around to see all the coolant of her brand new (Red) Mazda 3 all over the road from its impact with my towbar. [biggrin]

Quite often on a Saturday morning I'll hear the sirens of a Police car go off every few minutes up there as they nab someone - always good to top the coffers up.

Both the Nepean Hwy on the east side of Port Philip Bay north of Sorrento, and the Bellarine Hwy as you leave Queenscliff on the west side are very 'photogenic locations' for people literally racing to make the car ferry.

Be knowing.

The stretch on the west side known locally as 'The Narrows' is classified as a black spot because some six people have died along there over the last 30 odd years. I knew at least half of them and speed was not the main factor in each circumstance.

On my way to town there is a level crossing with a stop sign at the bottom of a long gentle slope, with a clear view of the track for a kilometre in both directions. Just past the level crossing is a T junction, where almost everyone turns left. And just to the right is a nice patch of scrub suitable for concealing a patrol car, but thin enough to allow the occupants a good view of the crossing .........

Did a roaring trade for a few months after a campaign started following a train hitting a truck on another 'stop sign' crossing not too far away (that crossing now has flashing lights).

Looks [emoji102] another blitz in the Hawkesbury this weekend, (4th in a row). Just saw three highway patrol vehicles cruising past the RAAF base heading west into Richmond.

They were stopping, measuring and weighing & defecting vehicles last weekend.

Speaking with a local 4wd workshop this morning, the guys were saying that 1500 4WD’s have been defected in the Hawkesbury in the past 12 months.. including a brand new straight out of the showroom Amarok. Tyres 5mm too wide is the story

That's harsh as. Straight out the showroom is a bit suss though. They must've put after market wheels on.

There are three or four here in the Hawkesbury that have a very bad reputation. And they have been here for years.

But I was next to one at the lights this morning in my 90 puma, and he happily watched a mob of cyclists go through an orange light even though they had plenty of time to stop!

Go figure...
