On the same token 2 of my mates drive Lexus cars and both have been exceptional... when I say "exceptional" I mean they havent had a blown v6 diesel engine, no park brake failure, no engine cooler failure, no transfer case control module failure, no cracked inlet manifolds, no brake booster oil ingress, no turbo failures etc etc etc etc...

So you're comparing 2 cars against all landrovers? Or 2 against 2?

JC on here loved them as well,and there isn’t much about vehicles he doesn’t know.

A friend just bought a Tesla...he was referring to the recent JD Power survey and laughing...he's had it 4 weeks and already one of the cameras is U/S... apparently a 'known failure''... he then sighed and said"I think Tesla drivers are like Landy drivers.... the vehicles have a reputation for being unreliable....but as owners, we love them!!" I do miss my P38, but with a 7 yr warranty and at my "age and stage" the diesel mid spec Santa Fe compared with a similarly equipped Discovery Sport(at +30% $$$) it was a no-brainer. I just didn't want the worry or the hassle.... (it's a bugger getting old(er)

C'mon, Gav, you knew that going in. It was ever thus.

Personally, I am unsurprised. My son chaffs me for brand loyalty. He cites as his example Land Rover and Apple. He's wrong. I choose Apple because I am heavily invested in the ecosystem Steve Jobs sold me, and I can't stand Google, so there's Android ****ed. I choose Land Rover because, for some infathomable reason I fell in love with the damn things, when my Army experience should have driven me away. But I don't love the new ones. They ain't Land Rovers, no matter how much spin Tata puts on it.
But, brand loyalty does exist. Just ask a LandCruiser driver, even if he has a flawed 7X series.. "Oh, sure, I had to spend 25K getting the rear suspension sorted, but so what?"
This survey only shows what everyone expected. Toyota, Toyota, Toyota. That in itself should tell you it's BS. Everybody loves Maccas. Except me. I wouldn't feed Maccas to my dog, if I had one.

Yep! On my other forum, a bloke with a V8 'cruiser had the motor blow, from a known issue, apparently and all the comments went along the lines of 'What bad luck', 'Oh, that's no good', 'You'll be right with the new engine', etc. No one mentioned that it was unreliable or a bucket of pus.
I actually commented that it was lucky it wasn't a Nissan, Jeep or Landy, as the thread would be hundreds of pages long, full of comments from advertisement absorbing, Toyota owners .

p.s. haven't had a Maccas in 30 years or more.
