Thread: Tracing vehicle history - how to?

I have had my 1998 Landrover Defender 300Tdi 130 HCPU for 11 years now. I bought it privately from a couple how had bought the vehicle at a govt auction. So I am the third owner

I have purchased a PPSR certificate ($36) in an attempt to find the info I am looking for) but the only information I get is that it was first sold on 12 December 1998 at 2460 (Grafton) and the first buyer was Non-Private.

Can I go any further than this? I.e.,how did it end up in QLD, which govt department was using the vehicle (assuming Forestry/National Parks) and when did the previous owners buy it at auction?

You could look in the vehicle's service log book if it has one, and ring the mechanic who used to service it, which is what someone did about the Disco 2 I used to own.
