This is why "local" is so important with cops. Deal with the person, the situation and NOT the rule book.

Farmers also cop flack from the townies. The townies buy a house adjacent to farm land but fail to comprehend just what they have let themselves in for. A paddock full of Herefords is a noisy place which doesn't stop just because it is night time. In the morning roosters noisily greet the new day. Depending on season farmers fire their tractors up at first light to begin harvesting or plowing paddocks. It is normal for hay harvest contractors to run 24/7 until the job is done.
A frequent result of normal farm life activities is noise complaints rolling into the shire council.
Next step would have been the STAR Force & all their accotiated gear all for a dead Fox.
I think it would be good practice for everyone who wishes to partake of Rural/Semi-rural areas to need to do a course so they know what to expect.
# 1 on my list is, If you buy a gaff near the CFS Station do not complain to the authorities when you & your missus & your kids are woken up suddenly by a "trillion" decibel siren at 3am as the rest of the community need to know that there is a fire or other Emergency in the area.
#2 would be, Don't restrict water courses that you may think you own, but do not as they belong to the Crown, just because it runs through the lowest part of your block, with rocks, to make it look suburban. What you do upstream will have an effect on all properties down stream.
That won't stop silt coming onto your property as it will simply build up on the upstream side of the rocks & create a dam of it's own.
#3 Don't complain when your hear the sounds of Mechanical Grape Harvesters on cold nights as that is the optimum time to harvest some types of Grapes. It will only last a few nights & be gone by Morning.
Did you really think the Estate Salesperson was telling you the truth when you asked about those nice succulent green paddocks & were told you it was a Conservation Park & all those nice straight post & wires would be removed next year & that the land will look lovely in Autumn? They were in fact Vineyards.
And then there is the Manure Cow **** spreader. Get too close & it will bring down an A380 covered in crap.

A few years ago now we had the police call into work to warn us that they had had reports of armed people being seen in the car park behind our building. We should take care and should only go outside in groups to be safe.
It was only after they had left realised the armed and potentially dangerous were us. We had been preparing for a trip leaving that night and were transferring guns and other kit between vehicles.
Someone must have seen and reported us. At least they had been too scared to stay long enough to note down car rego numbers. If not we might have come out that evening to a couple of totalled cars as the police forced entry to search them
