Got diesel today for $1.15 litre delivered for a customer.

Mind you we took 45,000 litres of it. Should last him until after Easter.

It's only greed and gouging driving fuel prices up just before Easter. Nothing new.
Having been through the canal, you'd think I would have realised that. The excuse the oil companies are using is the increased freight costs incurred by having to pay shipping companies to go the extra distance around Africa to Europe have to be passed on . Our mob here will not miss an opportunity to use that to charge us more. Still, it's a sign things are getting back to normal, fuel price rise at Easter, now all we need are strikes at Xmas,

why don't they just use one of the other ships and a big snatch strap and snatch it. Probably don't have rated recovery points.

It's costing fuel companies $ 350,000 in fuel alone to transit via the Cape of Good hope, but, and here's the kicker, the canal authority raised their canal transit fees to $ 130,000 / container ship, and while fuel was $ 250/ tonne , many shipping operators gave the canal a miss.

Petrol prices are on the rise, but don't blame the new Suez crisis (thenewdaily.com.au)

Millions of ships have transited the canal, and this is the first one to stuff it up. The only other time AFAIK that the canal was blocked was by the Egyptians during the Suez crisis. When we went thru North / South on our way home, we could not get fuel for 24 hours at the Southern end. Our Senior Engineer went ashore to try to sort it out and was thrown in jail for not having a visa. Funny cattle, Egyptians.
