There are lots of occupations like that unfortunately, probably most that need a university degree. Becoming a Pilot is a beauty for it.

No idea - at this stage I dont think he is actually a member of the union - he is a trainee at the moment and I would have thought the police would be helping to settle new recruits into their first posting but nothing is being offered.
Along with everything else like no police pay, and an accrued HECS debt from the training phase it doesn't surprise me no help is on offer - oh and $15 a week rental assistance goes a long way in helping with rent in a country town with virtually no places to rent. My niece has been travelling each weekend to the location to try and get accommodation and nothing suitable is available so they are now looking to buy but will have to do it outside the town.
maybe its a way of stopping people from getting the training and leaving after 12 months.
do they have a retention problem?
