I bet the Queen would have to push Charlie out of the way to get near the roses, but I think he will make a good King.

I doubt he'll ever be king.

I doubt Charlie will ever take the throne, he's seventy and still hasn't started work.
The Queen takes Her responsibility extremely seriously and believes the Monarch's position is for life.

Indeed. Pity the youngsters don't have a similar ethic.

Seriously , it would be foolish for her to try to go on forever. Two more years , until she is 95, is the word.

To be serious for a moment, the New Idea was the only media I could find that discussed the Royals , and the Queens abdication. It's almost as though they have been relegated to the social pages, and not taken seriously in the main stream. One thing I know, Queen Elizabeth will be only the second Queen, after Victoria, to finish her reign a widow. Victoria stopped almost all her Royal duties , and wore black for many years. Can't see Elizabeth R doing that. The Queen deserves some time for herself, I hope she doesn't die in the saddle.

The residents of the Island of Tanna, part of Vanuatu, have elevated Philip to a high level. Has anyone had the impact the Prince has had?

The heavily spiritual group around the village of Yaohnanen and surrounding villages felt the Duke of Edinburgh was the reincarnation of an ancient warrior who left the island to fight a war and who, legend foretold, would return with a rich white wife.
But Chief Jack Naiva, one of the paddlers of a traditional war canoe which greeted the royal yacht, was quoted as saying: "I saw him standing on the deck in his white uniform. I knew then that he was the true messiah."
Tanna elders later sent Prince Philip a "nal nal" hunting club. He replied by sending back a picture of himself holding the club. The photo has become a cherished religious icon on Tanna.
