Outback , my wife has one - every day to Bendigo and back from Romsey .

quiet , ,smooth , economical , comfortable - came out out a Xc 70 with just under 300,000km on it .(8 yrs old )

I think the servicing is over the top - but no problems in 65,000km - it’s just gone 2 yrs old .

Will tow up to the limit , have a friend who gets them as company cars - tows camper trailer around 1550 kg - no problem - she drives like stolen ... no issues that I am aware of , gets a new on every 100,000 or 3 yrs .

Have a chat to Innes Motors - they were the best to deal with of all the Melbourne Dealers .

contact if you want more info .

    Which car?

So unless it drives horribly the Outback is going to be the pick. Lots of walking around dealers trying to dodge ****wit salesman looking over some other options but the Subi stands out for me.

Waiting on a few quotes now from different dealers to start the ball rolling and then I’ll start haggling with each. Have booked a test drive from home so I don’t have to go into the dealers. I can do all the haggling by phone and email - I’ll let you know what I can squeeze them down to.

Outback a good choice. Friends love theirs.
Mitsubishi Outlander - son has done the comparison and this is his choice.
Ford Everest - basically a more comfortable Ranger wagon. What's not to like?
LR Disco Sport - they have a good reputation in Europe.

Nice mate. Good vehicle. It can do light tracks and is great on corrugated dirt etc. Need to not miss the oil changes with the boxers but if looked after they go and go. Subis are well built. Cheers

Looked at the Outlander, liked the Subi interior better but can see why someone would buy one.
Ford Everest - Um, everything’s not to like - Fords abuse and outright contempt for their customers mostly though
Disco Sport - not a chance - I can’t even tell one apart from all the other mid sized offerings that LR do. Also way too much for what you get IMO.

Do a lot of dirt road driving so looking forward to having AWD again for this. Doesn’t need to do any tracks as the Rangie or 101 can fill in the gaps there. 👍

Until you have to tackle the CV/wheel bearing issue. But that will probably not be for some time.

Had a lot to do with Subis over the journey. Usually brilliant.

Done them on plenty of Subarus - first one is tricky but easy enough after that. I’ll be flipping this one in 3 years so shouldn’t have to worry about that. Don’t want a car I even have to touch in the time I’ll have it. Plan is to turn them over every 3 years/150,000KM.
