Britain can no longer build her own RFA support ships, they have only two shipyards that build warships, they have trouble recruiting sailors, and now this . Surely a Boris thought bubble. What is not well known is that the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan wore out the tanks, crews, ships , aircraft that had a peacetime life of 25 years at three times the peace time rate. After 8 years in Iraq and Afghanistan, they had worn out. There was no additional funding , so funds for new ships, service hospitals, pensions, pay, submarines, aircraft , etc were transferred to keep the Army fighting. As it turns out, simply to prevent them losing. I read an interview of an old grizzled Scottish marine Engineer, when asked how the UK would crew new ships proposed for the RN and he said " They would have to look in the cemetery. " Sorry, but I believe a new show pony ship is not what the UK needs right now. The greatest Navy in the World reduced to borrowing aircraft for their carrier, It's a crying shame.

Rant over, apologies but it had to be said
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Actually Bobs right in many ways. Having to borrow planes to fly off their newest carrier is an absolute disgrace and ALL of their totally worthless pollies on both sides should be ashamed of themselves. I personally like the idea of a decent ship showcasing Britain around the world but not when the armed forces are in such a badly run down state.
Maybe they should invent a gun to shoot useless seat polishing bureaucraps (mis-spelling intended) and pollies at the enemy.
