Television Lost Free to Air Channels

Three days ago, our 18 year old, 46" Sony Bravia lost all digital, FTA channels. I have rescanned, unsuccessfully and done a factory reset, with no joy.
DVD/USB are fine, as is Netflix, Youtube, Kayo and the like. I tried another tele, using the same aerial outlet and cable and all good.
I disconnected all accessories off the Bravia and just had power and the aerial in, to no avail.

Would anyone here be able to assist, please?

Doesn't worry me too much, more for the good woman.

All guesses ... Possibly tuner in TV is dead. You could try your test in reverse and move the TV to another aerial outlet, if it works then you might have a degraded aerial connection where the TV normally lives (the other TV might have a more sensitive tuner in that case).

Does your DVD player have a tuner? If so you could try using that or get a set top box ... very cheap.
    Cheers,

    Sean

A nifty little Google chrome cast would enable it to take everything from your computer or phone streaming. A previously Very expensive external tuner PVR are now almost out of date due to streaming and would, if you added one, give you all the channels

Chrome cast HD with a little remote at $99 new and bet SD second hand are cheap and chips. Ditto for a HD PVR

The PVR is possibly a bit more user friendly.

That said if you were local here I would send you to my local mr fix it repair shop. He has been able to fix stuff for me multiple times now to the point my kids think I have antique electronics

Are you sure its 18yo ?, no digital LCD tv's back then and certainly no smart tv's.
Amazon Firestick lite would be my choice for streaming services on a dumb TV.

I would be thankful that you can't see them any more. I don't even have an antenna connected to the main TV any more - only the one in the Guest room. Move on, nothing to see IMO.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

You're correct. I just found the handbook and it's only 15 years old.

I've met that authority, I'd describe such as the Highest Authority.

Tony, thanks for the kind offer.

I have sorted the issue by taking the TelstraTV gadget from the tele on the deck to the one playing up. Have just set it up and all is good.
I had the TelstraTV on the outside tele, mainly for sport. As it's the middle of winter, I'm not utilising it at the moment.
