Crap, my isp who we also use for our mobiles switched to vodaphone and even at home the reception is useless.
Time to switch providers.
I live about halfway between Brisbane and Gold Coast , not far off the M1
This is one of Australia's busiest corridors , yet has just about the worst mobile phone reception , averaging 1 bar indicated.
We have contacted most loud advertised servers who will not guarantee a reasonable service yet continue to hassle us for their business.
I rarely use my mobile phone at home and discourage others from calling me on it.....and yet when I'm out bush in the middle of Australia I seem to get reception when my mates with their expensive plans are failing.
What an enigma , the providers don't seem to care, I have neighbours with similar situations but they seem to accept it......oh worship the phone.

There is a simple solution. Just enable WIFI calling on your phone. Calls, received and made, will be routed via your NBN connection.
I live in an area with poor reception and have had no issues since enabling this. Give it a go.

Welcome to the nature of high frequency radio...
Only takes as little as a few cm of movement and signal can change drastically.
Where Em and I stayed last week - she was sitting on her phone with 1 bar of 5G having a great time.
I was 3' away and on 3G and struggling to get data.
Both identical phone models and cases.
I moved seat and went to 5G in seconds...
Agreed - all my calls are wifi at home - crystal clear. My partner is with a different provider - (we work for the same company so go figure) and without wifi calling she'd be unable to make calls at home - pretty tough when you're in Sales during a lockdown and it doesn't work.
If I'm out and can't get a signal it doesn't bother me at all - saves me some work usually.![]()

Very poor to no reception at home or most of the property, and no reception for about 50 of the 60km to town. On the other hand, good at the village 6km away - and once round the hill between here and there!
Wifi is satellite, hence laggy and not very reliable either. Looking with great interest at Starlink.

Our phones are good to non existent depending on where you are.
In my house or in the Roadhouse mobile doesn't usually work, walk 4 meters on to the back deck at either place & mobile is fine.
I have wifi calling enabled but we have 4 different wifi's at the Roadhouse, all sat, so signal comes & goes.
My mobile rings inside sometimes but I can't actually talk to anybody until I walk out side?
Can't change provider, there is only 1 out here.
Of interest, we just got new EFTPOS machines. For years now if the wifi or internet go down these machines default to the mobile network. Not fast or reliable but OK until I got the internet sorted.
The new machines came with an Optus SIM, not very helpful until you are 400km away from here. Going to be fun when the net drops out.

No better on the Sunshine Coast. We have to walk outside for mobile calls.
In the family, we mainly use WiFi WhatsApp and Messenger phone and video calls.
It is possible to install a mobile phone signal booster, at a cost of about $900. Each booster only works on one network, so everyone in the house has to be on the same network.
We haven't bothered.
A bloke I know at Scarborough, Qld., has to stand on his footpath to get reception, albeit dodgy. Another dead area is at my wife's, quite large workplace, in Brighton, North Brissie.
