I used to spray underneath and through the doors etc with a 50:50 mix of kero and diesel. On my 4th Land Rover to date with no rust problems with the previous 3. Number 4 has not been on the beach yet as I think I have had enough of Fraser for now. I used to wash underneath well on return, let it dry for a week, then respray with oil/diesel mix.
A mate of mine has a Landcruiser that spends many trips per year on Fraser and he does the same although he puts on much more than I did. I have seen 1 year old hire Nissans at Rainbow Beach that were rusted out everywhere.
Oil is a great protector. Just have a look under your Land Rover and everywhere there is an oil leak

there will be no rust

Hope you enjoy Fraser. It is not as good as 20 years ago as the rangers really limit what you can do and where you can go. I guess that is needed as every man and his dog has a 4x4 these days. 20 Years ago just getting to the top end of the Island was a mean trip and you could drive for 3 hours without seeing anyone
