Got an email from my daughter's school today that one of the Year 12s was Covid positive when they were at school for their post-VCE valete celebrations last week.

Fortunately the rest of the school was at a swimming carnival, so not a lot of potential contacts in the other year levels.

Most of the 12+ kids would be vaccinated, which assists too.

Israel has started vaccinating 5 to 11 year old children. So far only China, Israel & the US are vaccinating children younger than 12, according to the NYT. Israel has emerged from a 4th COVID wave, with cases dropping to several hundred from a peak of 11,000 in mid September. Israel health authorities have given booster shots as the reason for the drop in cases, which were driven by a wane in immunity after five to six months after the 2nd jab, plus the Delta variant. From the NYT

EDIT Israel has a population of 9 million.

Germans can be very direct, and the German health Minister is no exception. Jens Spahn tells it as it is,

    SAY WHAT?
Probably by the end of this winter pretty much everyone in Germany … will be vaccinated, cured or dead.
    Jens Spahn
The German health minister put it plainly as the country grapples with up to 15,000 new COVID cases a day amid a fourth wave sweeping Europe. Hospital intensive care units are at breaking point, and it’s mostly unvaccinated patients who are becoming critically ill. About 67.5% of Germans are double vaxxed.

So, in Germany, only the UN-'vaccinated' are becoming infected with COVID.

phew ! What a relief for the Gibraltans.... who only have "100%" fully jabbed.... - must be the fraction of a counting error who are the new cases, as reported here.
Or else they're telling porkies about their 100% jabbing rate.... cos we KNOW that ONLY UN-jabbed can get sick. Like Germany ?

Actually, if you look at the hairy-stringy graph, they've been well jabbed some months now,

On a serious note, that pic of the strolling, green-dressed person, gives up a few clues.
    - Pale skin, despite geography... = low Vit D level
Clothing ..... size is too much like mine... lots of 'XXX's on the label. Alas, 0besity interferes with effective antibodies / production. And shape. Again, all tooo familiar with the inbuilt bulbous bow.... indicates high Visceral fat / fatty liver / insulin resistance. = Bad Outcome from covid or any disease.

But I'm sure there's a suitable pill for that !

Did you not read the post before saying, "So, in Germany, only the UN-'vaccinated' are becoming infected with COVID"?

The article clearly says that it is mostly the unvaccinated becoming critically ill.

You have managed to miss two important pieces in that article in your attempt to push your agenda.

Do you want people to take you seriously or not?

It seems likely to me that obesity, liver disease, low vitamin D (and those can play into each other) would cause increased risks of a poor outcome from contracting Covid19. Those are risk factors. Most of the population are likely to be D deficient especially those with other issues like liver disease and those not getting enough sun etc but how does that assist what you are saying? Those without those risk factors can still have poor outcomes with Covid. Everyone who is eligible should get the jab and those who have no risk factors AND the jab will typically be better off than any other cohort. Then you have low risk factors who don't get the jab and are still at risk. Lastly the group of high risk factors and no jab (for rare health reasons or fundamental philosophy on not getting it or other reasons) and unfortunately they are typically going to be the worst off of all groups. I just don't see the argument for not getting a jab unless there are good health reasons not to and those I understand are very very limited. Cheers

Its funny chatting with some who got a light dose of Covid just after chatting with a person gasping for breath after discharge from 14 days in ICU Got back to city at 3am post a mum chemo run. Staff text at 6am had me headless chook. pay roll superannuation... to 8am front desk fun

I mucked up as I was "WOW I cannot believe that person of the phone is out of hospital". Lungs scarred very badly and clearly struggling to breath still
The person in front of me asking for ....... got a OMG anti vaxer comment before I found they had had a not so bad Covid19 Trip.

Oddly that is a lot easier than people asking to see their Doctor who is no longer available for medical reasons not covid related

My lump in throat is sadly often at present if answering the phone calls from loads of nice people Hard to give bad news or deal with the soon to be under 5% anti's

Love that I can take dad for a beer and mum for a post Chemo coffee in a proper cup. As long as those anti vaxers keep away from her in her immunocompromised state

I have been talking with a guy in regional Vic about doing some work on a car I have - car was booked in to go for the work but on speaking with the guy 4 weeks ago he said he had a worker with Covid and he was going into quarantine and would ring me back the following day but he was expecting to get Covid.

Well he never rang me back so I sent some messages without response so assumed he in fact had got Covid.

Today he rang me - he had an operation on his shoulder about 6 weeks ago and something happened and he had to go back into hospital in Melbourne the day after I spoke to him. He did not catch Covid from his worker and was cleared, however while in hospital to repair his botched shoulder operation he did catch Covid in the hospital and got very sick and then as recovery started he caught viral pneumonia (not part of the Covid infection) in the hospital - he has only recovered enough to be released from hospital yesterday - hence the phone call to me today.

One thing he said was that he believes that if he was not double vaccinated he would have died as the Covid infection was quite dramatic requiring continued hospitalisation and then viral pneumonia on top of that.

Not a good run for this guy but he is still around.

It's a bit surreal, here we are blissfully preparing to open up, bringing in people from overseas, with a great proportion of our country demonstrating angrily against vaccination mandates, while in Austria Hospital Administrators are considering the grim possibility of making the tough decisions on who gets intensive care, and who doesn't. In other words, who lives and who dies. Part of the Austrian problem is the low vaccination rate, however countries like Israel who, with 9 million people, have a very high vaccination rate, are finding waning immunity in those vaccinated 5 to six months ago. Israel is one of three countries so far who are now vaccinating children 5 to 12. The others are China and the USA. Even with high vaccination rates Victoria & NSW are still experiencing higher than hoped infections, and deaths. Qld opens her border on the 17 th December, and people from those States will be moving around the country.

I'm trying to see if the Wife & I can get our boosters after 5 months, which will make it December. [ The WHO has said Nations should accelerate their booster program , and vaccinate well before the six month timeline]{ EDIT think this was an Austrian epidedemiologist. } Unfortunately, our Grandchildren are too young, even for a 5 to 12 vaccine roll out. The only positive is they will not be going to school. I'm not normally a doom & gloom person, but a black cloud is hanging over me. Nothing that is happening in Australia ATM suggests we will get out of this scot free. I really hope I'm wrong.

Kids 6 months to 5 years are in the mix possibly soon - ONCE proven safe!!! Your doctor may give you your booster <6 months. Asking during an appointment not via staff who have the six month SCRIPT to give us breathing space Shhhhhh
