Covid Mk ll

Got my bike serviced today at a very busy bike shop I've been using for ages now. They ran services all through the lockdowns as well as click and collect: the drill then was to arrive, ring them, stay a metre back from a rope outside their premises while discussing what needed to be done, hand the bike over and it was all done with masks and hand cleaning.

Technically there's no restrictions at the moment but they've gone back to what they were doing during the lockdowns - no-one gets into the shop, masks on even outside, constant gap between customers and staff. The only difference is that they've put some of the accessories outside and some of the bikes are there too. As they say on their website, given the current omicron numbers they want to be safe.

Oh well, everyone has their own opinions. They didn't consider the risk of permanent damage and long covid via Omicron and gave a token comments on the elderly and immunocompromised. Possibly a good perspective from a middle aged healthy person whos priority is business though.

That's never changed where I work - from day 1 of the lockdowns that started and continues - our reception area is closed and there is a small undercover area outside our Ops entrance where any visitor can come to and talk to us from behind a rope - we aren't a retail business so only get drivers and couriers in and out all day but they don't get within cooee of getting inside.

Went into town today. Got my booster and also first vax for 11yo grand daughter. No problems.

Did a big grocery shop - Aldi, Coles, Wooolworths. Lots of empty shelves, but got most of the stuff on the list or acceptable substitutes.

Also got a call - a couple who are among my close friends (in Murrumbateman) have covid.

Regarding recent covid / Omicron 'infections' (POS test results), have we moved towards ANY advice for "Early Treatment" ? ie, medications ect at first hint of symptoms - or strong suspicions of serious exposure ?

Anyway, this bloke may or may not have scored a mention here. Sometimes his vids are only 12 hours or less, old. He has a contact or three in Australia, so that info is useful.

- For the True Believers, he's PRO-Vaccine, not a "Hesitant"...[bigsad] Basically, a useful and calm source.

I wonder IF the business interests that are promoting this event will feel any guilt and the numbers of deaths of West Australians that this opening of the borders will cause??

The coronavirus tracking site is interesting indeed but I reckon there is probably a doctoral thesis in documenting and understanding the differences in reporting between countries and even states, much less then taking those normalised figures and trying to document the differences in approach to see whether the controls applied to the population in different states or countries even had a meaningful effect.

No doubt McGowan will surprise us all with something random with little notice.

The news this morning has report the WA Government have announce they won’t have its updated COVID management finalized prior to gates opening……

This is telling me they have a back up plan to keep the gates closed.

Back up plans - Mr 22 at home tested positive just as we started vaccination clinics at 8am. I am in a LOCKED room at work trying to keep the wheels on (we are Just)

RAT test neg for me at present does not mean I could not be so I am having a week remote working with fingers crossed no one else falls over. Over 100 kids and 3rd dose are missing my sheep dog role restricted to hiding in one room till I escape out the back when everyone has gone.
The spreading it all out costs me several hundred $$$ I wonder if that's why I have a headache right now? It could be no coffee more likely or the thought I cannot run for a week again bring POST TRAUMATIC STRESS plus thoughts of laying in bed for months [bigrolf]
