Hi,
Went to the pharmacy for some prescription stuff and was offered my free RATs without asking.
Seems a bit excessive, but they can be shared with others if needed I suppose.
Cheers
Prices here in WA can reach $30 EACH. Silly thing was, they were declared ILLEGAL ... as WA residents were deemed to imbecilic to correctly 'interpret' results. No joke, WA government explanation ! - Then few weeks after that, suddenly, same government scrambles to secure supplies...
Do NOT put any trust in either the WA border or our Premier... I'd rather not express an opinion of his motives / Instructions / Orders / Dogmas etc. - But you get my drift. His grasp of Science is....[bigrolf] and the medical advisors don't inspire confidence either.
All of them are changing minds more often than a catwalk model does her dresses.
Seriously, if you must come near our state, keep Escape Plans B & C up your sleeve.
UK is a few weeks / months in front of us, so here's the latest (up there) about OMICRON and the 'novel' OMICRON.

Probably unusual replying to my own post, but some information on QLD aged care deaths from COVID has come to hand. Over half the deaths since the start of Omicron in Qld. have been in Federal aged care. Obviously the story about QLD taking over the vaccination of Federal health facilities wasn't on the money, of the 107 aged care residents who died in Qld since December, only 10 had booster shots. 20 were not vaccinated at all. The Qld Health Minister said the Federal Gov. was not sharing information on how many residents had received boosters. Of the ten Qlders who died from COVID in the last 24 hours, 8 were in aged care.
The Health Minister said that the Commonwealth had asked 26 separate times for emergency PPE and Rapid Antigen Tests to be supplied to the aged care sector in the last week.

Got my booster at a chemist this afternoon, booked it yesterday.

In Melbourne's second wave, all of the nursing home deaths (655) were in privately owned nursing homes administered by the Commonwealth. There were none in the nursing homes owned and run by Victoria.
One important difference is that:
" .... while the Victorian government mandates minimum nurse-to-resident ratios of up to one nurse for every seven residents during the day, the Commonwealth laws only call for an "adequate" number of "appropriately skilled" staff – both terms are undefined."
