There are areas in hospitals that are high risk. Hospitals are geared up to filter at the entry points, not on a ward to ward basis (in fact that would make the clinical care exceedingly difficult). An unvaccinated person is far more likely to have a higher viral load and therefore be more transmissible.

You don't see the broader picture of Government coercion as an issue? I find it hard to imagine a situation where this would be a realistic problem to be honest but the protect rabble in Melbourne and the idiots driving around Canberra at the moment are triggered by what seems like government interfering in their lives to an excessive extent.

Yeah, I do see the bigger picture as concerning but my experience with the health system outweighs any of that concern by orders of magnitude.

My experience may skew my perspective a bit however.

There is Nothing stopping the unvaccinated from getting vaccinated, There is plenty of vaccine available.
IF some CHOOSE not to get the jab then that is fine BUT why should those that have bothered to get fully vaccinated be put at risk by having to be exposed to the risk of being in contact with the few that have chosen to be unvaccinated and run the risk of getting infected by them.

Hospitals and other venues are high risk areas and allowing the unvaccinate acces to these areas is an unnecessary and an unacceptable risk.

It's all about choices and those that choose Not to get vaccinated don't get to go to places that have chosen to get vaccinated can, Nothing to do with an "ego trip" it's all about containing the spread of the virus (Something the Eastern seaboard have completely given up on) and this is why we have a "vaccine passport" in place in WA.

Screw the anti vaxers they have made their bed now let the lie on it and stop whining about the restrictions that their "CHOICE" has resulted in, **** them.

Chatted with a unvaxxed person very grumpy they are not allowed in to visit a nursing home today[bigwhistle] No matter how stupid some people are we still seem able to find some one every dumber than DUMB. (Willfully refusing to use common sense and good judgement. Taking an already poor idea and taking it to the extreme)

A deluded gent in the US who really needs a kidney transplant is choosing to die rather than getting a vaccine. (New report today)

Its ok to choose I guess. The significant impacts on others is not considered when making some choices make it tough for me to understand.

"A child aged under 10 is among 16 new COVID-19 deaths in Queensland, with the state recording 9,630 new cases." A very sick child who may not be dead had others taken care and been a bit more responsible??? Excuse me- Call me grumpy- Off for a run!

I totally agree with you, I have had 2 appointments cancel at Box Hill Hospital for a check up for my rheumatoid arthritis one last year (Dec) and now this Feb. If they give me another appointment and I have to go in. I will ask for a phone call as I am not going to any high risk places. These anti vaxs people are tell us not to be pushed in to what the government wants, and what are they doing, pushing us not to get vaccinated. This virus is so easy to catch. We have had so many people that we know have had this virus this time around and have recovered because they have been vaccinated. I am just glad that my kids are fully vaccinated now, so if they do catch it they wont end up in the hospital. These anti vaxs are now a small amount if you go my the number of people in Aust been vaccinated. I will not put Mario at risk with this.My rant over Heather

Would not making everyone who wants to go into a high risk environment do a RAT or a series of RATs provide better protection than simply banning the unvaccinated. We all got to share covid from our double vaxed teenage daughter in January and she remained completely asymptomatic for the entire duration. Neatly solves the problem with a lower risk profile but doesn't give the Premier the opportunity to grandstand.

This is important to to know - PCR tests will show a positive for much, much longer than a RAT. On average a RAT will only pick up the positive for around 4-5 days when you are most infectious. Care is still needed re transmission for two weeks or longer. We need to take the politics out of it - isolation needs to be 14 days, not 7. It's going to keep spreading at an exponential rate as a result.
