Got to chuckle- more covid cases escalating and everyone is bar humbug now. 5000 Australians dead and WHO suggesting 15 Million dead due to Covid via excess death report. 10 ish dead in both NSW and ViC. WA and NT kicking new goals!

I am exaggerating- it was 14.9 million. The (4th dose) boosters offered are a good idea for over 65s and immunocompromised.

"Health experts are warning of the dangerous potential risks of contracting both the flu and COVID-19 simultaneously, after an elderly woman in Victoria died from what has been dubbed ‘flurona’." Vic has 3000 dead from Covid leading by miles. The 2022 death rate is accelerating??? [tonguewink] We are all over Covid? “People are getting a negative COVID test and thinking they are fine, but still spreading the flu.”

Guess which death rate is rising shortly? No fear its only the old and sick mostly - you'll all be fine[bigwhistle][bigwhistle][bigwhistle]

India is upset about WHO as it looks bad apparently.

Even though masks are no longer mandatory in WA I and many others are still wearing them when we go anywhere because despite popular belief this virus is Still running rampant in the State.

Yep, I still wear a mask when going into the shops and the habit of sanitising every time I get into the car before I touch anything is still there.

Had my Flu shot yesterday, took a few days to book in and I’m hoping that’s a reflection of the amount of people booking to get it.

Hot question when we are giving flu or covid jabs Saitch. If we aren't too busy we do sneak it in[biggrin] FYI others- it is perfectly safe to get both at the same time - we don't as we want to keep the several differing vax out of the room at the same time to avoid error in.

Flu vax has 3+ types. Covid vax has a two age types at our place and several types at other places.

Oddly that has me under pressure to book the other jab as I check if covid booster or flu jab is also needed. At 5 minute intervals for our jabs the extra booking for them has me sprinting to get the computer side done while the injections occur.

Must add the Webservices addition to our software which instantly adds vax details to the Australian Immunisation register is both great and a curse. It locks up if any details are slightly off. It used to be just Medicare numbers. Now its also your Health Identifier, Spelling of first name..... It is amazing how many people are known as ABC when the government records them as CBA[biggrin]

I was part of a medical trial AKA guinea pig testing a combination flu/covid vax. Being a double blind study I have no idea if I got the flu vax side of it at all or what strength of the Novavax covid vax they tested on only silly OLD buggers like me :) Note no one in that study died and all looked happy during the monthly blood tests we all did.

Our flu and covid cases are getting all jumbled up. Lots of symptomatic people are RAT testing negative with difficulty getting them tested for FLU or PCR covid test due to obvious reasons. Sadly that will put additional huge pressures on our already over worked Hospital emergency departments

CDC estimates* that, from October 1, 2021 through April 30, 2022, there have been:

120k hospital and 3600-10,000 dead in USA cdc data.

We have "There have been 49 hospital admissions due to influenza, including three ICU admissions, reported across sentinel hospitals sites since commencement of seasonal surveillance in April 2022."

Footy is back on. Running is going well. Mothers day was successful. Life is good not just bad due to the other stuff[thumbsupbig]

Got told today.... Billy Goat has a 'mild' dose of Fauci Flu, and the CEO of Pfizzles has - so far- dodged the Deadly Plague. Not so his Wife who tested Pos. He didn't. Which is a bit odd, seeing as he's denied having any jabbbbbs as it would be 'improper' for him to Q- jump... Or so was his reasoning. Dunno about his OH

Expect a sudden unexpected lockdown in WA... Our daily "Pos" score went from around 5k to 7K, to a daily rate of 17K today (Wednesday)

- Isn't it TOTALLY annoying when SWMBO is Absolutely Right / -Mine prophesied last week, that Mother's Day would be a super-spreader event and couple of days later..... .... would hit the fan. It did.

So far, he's "assured" us he won't slam down.... but his Court Druids are frothing at the mouth insisting on complete muzzling for every one everywhere.

You don't have to be a Rhodes scholar to work out that dropping the mask mandate would cause a massive spike in infections.[bigwhistle]

I noticed that when the mask mandate finished social distancing, hand sanitising and any other precautions were pretty much abandoned by the majority of people as well.

Just returned from 2 weeks in Brazil. First trip overseas since returning in January 2020.

From leaving the house to arriving at the hotel in São Paulo I went 38hrs of continuous mask wearing (except when eating or drinking). Even had to sleep with a mask on. Yes I did change the mask often. [emoji40]

Transiting through Doha airport was a shock to the system - the airport was packed - social distancing was impossible. Being from Victoria you almost had a panic attack seeing the crowds. Get me out of here!

You then arrive in Brazil and almost no one is wearing a mask. The only time masks were being used consistently was at airports and on planes where it was still mandated.

One flight in Brazil I was sitting next to an elderly man who was coughing that bad I thought he was dying. Hand me a second mask [emoji40] [emoji40] and some ear plugs (poor bloke - he must have felt bad!).

To access the mine sites I was visiting I had to get regular covid tests (still not fun!). One mine site still mandated the used of masks on site - but by the third mine we visited masks had all but disappeared.

And social distancing - no such thing! Hugging is mandatory.

Amazingly - within the group of 6 I was travelling with, not one of us picked up covid. Although a few of us picked up head colds (why do Brazilians set the aircon at 18-19degC?). 🥶

Other than needing to show my vaccination certificate to leave Australia, the only other time this came up was to get back home as you have to complete a digital declaration to return home (as I realised when trying to checkin for my flight back [emoji15]).

What was clear from the crowds at Doha airport and again at the airports in Brazil - the rest of the world was just getting on with their lives. Everyone had a story by tell - all have been impacted in some way - but life must go on.

It is so good to be able to get back to work properly and travel again. And to reflect that we are in a pretty lucky country (despite our grievances about 2020 and 2021).

So what is going on with WA? Must be time for the rest of the states to close the borders to those pesky Sandgropers! [emoji48]

When was the last time you checked the reliability of a source you present?

It will come as no surprise to anyone that when I checked several of the sources that publish Stephen Petty's views, every one of them was rated as extremely unreliable and a promoter of pseudoscience

I realise that does not prove that he is wrong. It just means that his views should be treated with suspicion until they can be found on a reputable source of information.

Have you ever checked to see if the information you find on conspiracy sites is also available on trustworthy sites?
