No, I know of people in their 70s who are holding out for Pfizer even though they could've been vaccinated with AZ months ago.

There’s three reasons people are holding out for Pfizer.
    1. Pfizer is more effective.
    2. international travel on Australian made AZ might be very difficult because it’s not recognised in USA or Europe.
    3. Blood clot scare.
…However, if AZ were equal on 1 and 2, there would be minimal AZ hesitancy, but it’s not.
    It’s pretty obvious.

    1. Difference is not significant (difference is within the error bars), probably counterbalanced by AZ appears to be longer lasting.

    2. No. All national authorities involved go on WHO recognition, and they do recognise Australian made AZ.

    3. Blood clot scare has been far overblown - compare the myocarditis risk with Pfitzer, which has similar incidence. And in the current situation neither are a good reason not to get vaccinated now.

AZ looks like being much longer lasting than the mRNA vaccines

All it seems have side effects in different people

None of the side effects are any worse than what COVID-19 can cause and the vast majority are way kinder than COVID-19 so the hesitation is really only putting them at greater risk being unvaxed for longer

AZ has treated me kindly so I am happy

Most of my kids and partners have had AZ as well with no worries

I think some people just look for excuses as they are too self absorbed

All moot points and incorrect. People getting their information from social media rather than listening to the experts is what is causing AZ hesitancy, not any of those.

Oddly enough reasons 1 & 3 I got from my GP and therefore held out an extra 2 weeks for Pfizer. I then stretched my second dose out to 5 weeks and was still double jabbed about 4 weeks *earlier than I would have been had I taken the AZ. Social media had nothing to do with it, but I suppose my GP could have been misinformed.

    * Yes, I know some states are shortening the time between AZ does. Can != should in a non-outbreak scenario.

So now it turns out the AZ has better efficacy in the long term, so I'll probably need a booster earlier than I would have had I had the AZ. Oh well. I'm still double jabbed *now* and the people who went for the AZ when it was available to us aren't.

    It's not at all obvious...

Actually it’s the other way around. People getting their info from social media such as AULRO should not necessarily be so sure of themselves.

EG: AstraZeneca vaccine and international travel: Will Europe and US allow Australians to enter?

“The European Medicines Agency (EMA), the body that evaluates and regulates medicinal products within the EU, has authorised only four vaccines for use. While the Pfizer vaccine – under the name Comirnaty – is one of those, the AstraZeneca vaccine dispensed in Australia is not.”

It is based on who I was replying to with my point there - and it is when you see the misinformation that is rife on Social Media - including here at times. I listen to the likes of the TGA & ATAGI - not Marge from 2 doors up who heard from her Daughters friends friend that AZ is terrible and we shouldn't go near it...

They have very good websites so no reason anyone who can use Faceplant, etc can't find this information - they just don't want to.

There are plenty of reliable OBVIOUS sources for this information, it's just some people don't want to hear it - and I can't help that.
