Correct. Two letters have not been used - "nu" because of potential confusion with "new", and "xi", because it is a common surname. But other 'missing' letters have been used progressively for variants as discovered to be established that never spread to any significant extent.

New Zealand has been talking since march 21 on rapid tests to the wonderment of a lot of the medical and scentific professions.. I have my theories on that and its follow the money again combined with incompent health officals...all the big exporters wanted them for their factories and actually imported their own....
Here is short thread of why they have a real place in the managment of this outbreak.
    Quote:
When the goal is limiting transmission, timing of tests is everything

If you wait days for positive results before isolating, the time spent waiting must be factored in to the “effectiveness sensitivity” of a test.

Time is always ignored as a test metric. This is wrong

Vaxxed have little need to worry as while some infections occur the risk of significant illness or death is negligible. Still a chance yet possibly much more dangerous driving to the Doctors for your script Bob. PS I love eScripts and Phone appointments.

Kid vaccines inbound to Health departments Deep freezers before xmass for distribution and use Jan is the gossip now, ( in today's AGE. )

Of interest will be if Moderna is in the mix for kids>12 and 3rd doses for the rest of us. Sound like it may be in the next few weeks. It is OS now.

Our 6 month old pup just ran her first Park Run "Westerfolds parkrun results for event #367. Your time was 00:29:42." It was very chatty running my slowest ever park run 4th in the over 50s for this black duck

Not bad for the pup who is not allowed to do 42 km next week. She is now asleep on my feet.

I'm hearing conflicting reports on current vaccines effects on the latest version. Some say it has no effect on the virus, others claim it reduces the effects to that of a cold.

What a bunch of self-centred twits. Anti-vaxxers have caused a kids cricket game to be cancelled as the anti-vaxxers protested lack of choice and freedom. Sadly, this was the first game of cricket for the kids since Auckland moved to the new traffic-light warning system after 107 days of lockdown. This was freedom as we know it now and yet the freedom of the cricketers was being impeded by the freedom-seeking placard-waving yobbos. No words can truly convey the impression these people are leaving when they converge enmass in the best of times but now we all have new-found freedoms moving to the new system, they are still wanting to protest about stuff. *sigh*

Stupid is what stupid does... If they wanted to alienate their movement even further from reality, they have succeeded admirably.

Don't worry about the GKs a Sarsaparilla at the Pub back door or a Pub Lemonade & Raspberry will soon put them right

It always tasted so much better when the old Man stopped for a beer at a country pub & kids got catered for out the back probably because the Flavoured syrup was more intense that the bottled crap of the times.. Ahhh the good olde days eh.

Oddly, nobody appears to think of that but instead they just make a bigger noise.

I guess they'll find out soon enough, if they make it through, that is.
