New Television Selection

We got a Sony about 18months ago (on special at Big W)
YouTube, Netflix etc. etc.

Regularly have issues with it, like no picture, loses channels etc. Disconnect power for a few minutes & reconnect seems to fix it.
Had to get onto their technical support at one point, turned out we hadn't got the latest software ! Updated the software, re-programmed the stations I didn't want and it was OK for a while.

TV's used to be a simple device that you plugged in and they just worked for 20+ years, now I'm sure it's sending back info on everything we watch.....

As I'm in Sales myself, one of my favorite pastimes is haggling (It's part of the game and one I enjoy) - particularly for electrical goods as they play the game well and the sticker price is a huge mark up on what they actually need.

I bought a new 63" TV around 18 months ago now - I checked to see what the latest model of it was, then went looking for existing stock of the previous model to it - they discount these to shift them, and if you can find floor stock, you've hit the gold mine as I tend to haggle another $150 off as there is no box - that ticks off the Sales person no end. Once I've got them to the lowest number they'll go - usually 3 or 4 back and forwards with the obligatory 'I'll need to go see my Manager' BS, and my "i'll think about it and come back' BS, I then say I'll take it if they throw in a couple of HDMI cables.

The new model of what I bought was showing at $1,200 on the sticker (not an expensive TV to start with) - I walked out the door with the previous model floor stock for $678 and 2 x free HDMI leads. Still with full Warranty. Difference between the 2 was the stand and a few extra apps from what I could work out - the panel itself was identical.

You can play this game for any brand or model if you do some research and have the time - try it out, it's a huge amount of fun. [biggrin]

I do agree that the better brand names have more apps and features out of the box if you have a few more dollars to spend. My sub $700 unit is a Hisense and is 4K and has a great picture and I'm very happy with it. I'm not the sort of person that would spend thousands on a telly though.

i get to setup heaps of new hisense tv's for clients and they all seem to go really well...

Two and a half grand for a TV! I've bought cars for less than that.

You, I and I imagine a few others, jumped to the conclusion that said truckie was male. There are a few female, steering wheel attendants now-a-days. (What with the advent of automatic Scanias.)
