Well maybe….
it’s been about 10 years since I have been on here. I sold my D1 (search subtle D1) for that build. Sold my D3 HSE because it was costing 5k in maintenance a year, went to Nissan for a very short time and then didn’t have a 4wd at all for many years.
tomorrow I am going to have a look at a D2 with my oldest son, so thought I would try and catch up on what they required.
what I am a little surprised about is how many of the ‘old timers’ are still here.
so I big shout out to all my old friends and to my potential new ones as well
A lot of us "old timers" are here for more than just the Landrover experience.
If I ever change allegiances, god forbid it never happens, I still think I would hang around here.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
1983 RR gone (wish I kept it)
1996 TDI ES.
2003 TD5 HSE
1987 Isuzu County
Welcome back.
I’m in the same boat too. Sold off the RRC a few years back, and drifted off. Now deciding between a nice D2 or L322.
So it appears the guy selling his D2 isn’t very keen on getting a sale. Takes a week between messages for him to reply. Get a response saying yeah come look tomorrow, ask him for his address and get nothing.
anyone know of a mechanically sound, inexpensive disco going round in Vic for my son?
Thanks. I remember you too Sprover.
im sure my son would now love to get his hands on my old d1 now, although he got scared going off-road at the time.
i Was only able to sell it for 12k at the time and would have no chance of getting something similar now. It probably owed me at least 5 times what I sold it for - 10k of engine, 5k of gas injection, 4K of winch, suspension, body, tyres etc
welcome back to the fold .....I slid right off into the "darkside" after my D2 , went the way of a Ford Ranger single cab/chassis which is the nearest thing to a Defender 130 , using most of the common mechanicals , with zero mechanical issues.
I guess now, selective buying a D2 could give some good cheap 4wd motoring now.
good luck with it.
Dennis
A Looong way from you,
But am about to put a 04 TD5 D2 up for sale.
Send us a PM if you can think of a way to get it to Mexico.

A trip to Doomadgee would make for an epic road trip home to get used to it. Now I just need comrade Dan to let us out…. And back in again
