    Shout Out to V8 Ian

Did a run to Brisbane leaving last Monday night.

On Wednesday went to get my back load to come home. Some one in the chain stuffed up and no load.

So I am stuck there for 24 hours. A few weeks ago when in Brisbane I had a meet and greet with Ian which was a very brief 5 minutes

During this meet I did ask Ian if I ever git stuck here does he have room to park a truck and I could visit. He said plenty of room.

So with this in mind I rang work to see if it would be ok to take the truck to visit. The answer was no, as it would breach their covid protocol.

I was parked up at BP Archerfield. For those that don't know, it is a big truck stop. There would have been about 80 trucks there.

So it was ok for me to go and sit in the truckers lounge with a heap of drivers but not visit one person, go figure.

I sent Ian a text explaining the above and within a minute my phone rings with Ian suggesting he comes and pick me up and we go to the pub for a meal.

So my choice was, sit in the truckers lounge or go to the pub. I procrastinated for a while (3 seconds) as it was a hard decision.

Especially living in lockdown Vic, I forgot what a pub was.

Anyhow we both had an enjoyable time, getting to know each other and talking **** for most of the night.

So a very big thanks to you Ian. It was a great night.

If I get held up again, I would love to do this again.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Well done to you both and to those who haven't met Ian , I certainly hope you get the chance .

Thanks Dave, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening too, but I thought our conversation was, in depth, mature and relevant. If only we could get those with influence to listen, the world would be a better place.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

It is great to catch up with mates and go to the pub for a beer/meal.
BUT the covid19 protocols are in place for Very good reasons.
    1. "Recreational activities are not part of an essential activity and must not be undertaken by freight and logistics operators to whom the QLD Freight Protocol applies.
Example: Recreational activities may include attending a sporting event or going to visit friends or family."

Instead of Old Mate hanging out with the other truckkies at the truck stop who have been tested and possibly vaccinated as well you blokes chose to go to a Pub instead, This is not the behaviour most of us expect from proffessional drivers.
Like I said it is Great to catch up with Mates But putting the general public at risk is Not acceptable don't you think.

    You got that right.

Probably expect this thread to be deleted as it has naughty stuff in it.
