    Dvd Ram Disc

    One for the Video buffs.

We have a recently acquired DVD Video Camera and recorded to a DVD Ram Disc … on the advice of the sales type person
However, nothing at our place …… DVD players, PC’s etc can read this format. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can retrieve the video data to have a bow peep??

    Cheers

I think only 1 or 2 brands of burner support DVD Ram.
I haven't tried it, but you could probably extract the video onto your hard drive and then try burning it to another format.
Failing that there might be some type of software that will convert it for you.

    Ram Discs

You will have to find a DVD recorder that supports RAM disc playing/recording and then watch it on that. I bought one for my parents at christmas and the whole idea is that you can record a lot more on the one disc. Great if you have a compatible DVD player, no good if you don't. I think it was a Panasonic.

    Hope that helps

    RAM Disc

Another thought...... if you hook up the Video Camera to your TV with the chord supplied you can just press play on your DVD camera and watch it at your leisure. Is this what you are after ??

    Dvd Ram

This has cropped up before, I think on the old forum: But the solution is to convert it on your PC using either TMPGenc or Nero, and burn it as a normal DVD.
    Many articles on the web.

TMPGenc will convert it for you. I had exactly this problem a couple of months ago with a DVD-RAM sent from the UK

    Download TMPGenc DVD author from
    http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda20.html

If I remember its OK for 14 days as a trial (will convert many formats)

dvd-ram if i am correct is only supported by a few burners as said before http://dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#4.3.4 a quick google search will always answer your questions dvd-ram is realy only usefull for backing up and transfering data imho it's sorta like the modern day floppy disc as it va be written to and written over and over and over similar to dvd-rw only lasts longer and is easier but compatability is a major issue with them that write up will give u some indication hope this is a help
