Oh, forgot to mention appart from the broken CV joint in Steve's Disco Ed broke the rear tailshaft in the 130. It wasnt so much the shaft it was the 4bolt flange that bolts onto the park brake drum. Looking the damaged part it had been cracking for a while cause there was a crack that has rusted over so has been cracked for some time. Ed had said there was a vibration coming from the back end, and once we pulled the rear shaft off it dissapeared.
Fortunately Tony had brought a tailsaft for me so i could put it in my disco to get rid of the rubber flange, so Ed took the end to bolt onto the park brake drum and i took the other end for mine. Turned out we couldnt put it on cause the threads on the bolts at the park brake drum end were stripped so ed limped home with the CDL locked. Matt

Hi guys, just home to Mullion Creek from Sydney (the Christening went off fantasticly well BTW) even though I only did Saturday I thoroughly enjoyed my day, except for the drive down to Sydney after I left, absolutely p*ssed down rain for most of the mountain.
Dissapointed I could only get to the same spot as highline on that steep hill, but as my tyres only 33" I was satisfied I equalled his attemptthere's always next time, maybe 35" for that next attempt.
Thanks ACE for a great day, those that have not been to an ACE"S BBQ is missing a great get together, matching those strange names to real faces, friendly but cold smiles (cold & windy morning), untill the next one (pics soon).
Yeah thanks for the bluddy good w/e Ace...
... although I had to chuck out a good set of undies after almost getting T-boned by cruiser on that muddy incline. Lucky for me that I had canvas seat covers...![]()

I made it home. 130's go fast when they think they are an oversized ford laser. Couple of times I looked at the speedo and was shocked to find it trying to fly!
Oh not bad for a weekend One wiper, Only front wheel drive and She behaved all the way home![]()
It was Lachlan's fault I broke the uni. He wanted to go that way! I was about to go the chicken track but he insisted so up we went and then down we came.
Thanks for a great weekend guys.
Ace - thanks for your generosity on the weekend. It was good to meet other AULRO members (sorry I didn't get around to introducing myself to everyone there). The Saturday night campfire was a ripper and those trails you lead us on were superb in places. A great mix of water crossings, hill climbs, mud holes and fabulous scenery. We even managed to fit in a Rangie v Defender v Disco hill climb event.
There was something very satisfying about cruising along the forest trails at the end of our trip, looking down on magnificent vistas lit by the setting sun as we headed back to the highway after a day of getting down and dirty!
Thanks again for all your hard work making it happen.![]()
